Fun story! But I thought Snape was born in 1960. I recall that his classmate Sirius Black was born in 1959 (according to the family tree JKR published some time ago). They were in the same year at school and so it's not possible for them to be two calendar years apart. That means Snape is 49 this year-in an AU where he lived, of course.
