This story is absolutely great, especially that it's open who is the main character. It gives the whole thing an even more desperate touch and meaning.

I, too, think that the nameless character was Mirage. Could be Tracks, but it feels more like Mirage.

From the mention of being pawns and toys in someone else's game, I thought that the ending would be of waking up as if the battle had never happened. With everyone else totally oblivious, like someone had just picked up the toys, cleaned up the mess, and started the game again.

The descriptive writing and emotion here blew me away. Everything about this story is fantastic.

My first guess at your mystery bot was Tracks (the blue paint and Sunstreaker being a rival), but I think now it's Mirage. The golden optics and close bond to someone else (Hound?) convinced me. As well as your moniker. ;)

This was an interesting piece, showcasing a "nameless" Transformer in the fog of war.

I'm going to go out on a limb with two guesses. One is Jetfire (Skyfire). The other could very well be Optimus himself. I see him reproaching himself for the War.
