Silfrvarg 2009-11-29 . chapter 1I love vegas tags if only because there a chance to read a sheppard deathfic that fits with the plot. well written |
Wraithfodder 2009-01-25 . chapter 1Aw, sniffle. But very good tag. |
Fandomatic 2009-01-20 . chapter 1A touching goodbye in a harsh world. Thank you for sharing it. |
ManicTater 2009-01-20 . chapter 1THis was wonderful. I finally got to see the episode last night, and it was so good. Thank you so much for adding on some more to the story. Your tag seems very appropriate and fits with the feel of the episode. Thank you for sharing. |
Frisco 2009-01-19 . chapter 1*sobs* This was perfect. And that last line is a killer. |
Melissa Jooty 2009-01-18 . chapter 1This was a very sad little story. I loved your depiction of a pragmatic McKay, far darker than 'our' version, who saw Sheppard as a means to an end yet there is still an air of regret to him. He seems not only to feel some sorrow for Sheppard's fate (and the fact, he was responsible for it in many ways since he showed Shep the truth) but also for a world of lost friendships that he will never know.
The episode and this fiction show that the SGA team worked together to become better people. Sheppard showed McKay that it was possible to enjoy friendship while Sheppard learned from the team how to jolt out of whatever dark place he seemed to be in during the pilot. |
vcg73 2009-01-18 . chapter 1Very intriguing! Rodney has regrets that Sheppard basically became a means to an end, and greater regret that he'll never know the friendship they might have had, but he's enough of a realist not to dwell on might-have-beens. This Rodney actually reminds me strongly of the one originally introduced in SG1's "48 Hours", the all too realistic scientist who coldly assigned a deadline to Teal'c life expectancy because it was practical. Well done. |
Leesa Perrie 2009-01-18 . chapter 1This is one of the best 'Alt-Sheppard died' fics. I've read a few good ones where he survived, but this is definitely the best one I've read (so far at least) where he didn't. I like that you haven't assumed Ronon and Teyla are on Atlantis, but that after meeting the other team, Rodney has tried to find Ronon and tried to get Teyla to join the Expedition (and done his research on Sheppard). Also loved that Ford is still there (and promoted to Captain).
Very well thought out, and excellently written. This Rodney is similar to ours and yet different and I think you've captured that well. |
CoolBreeze1 2009-01-18 . chapter 1Painfully sad, but really well done. I like how you drew out the differences between this AU world and made it feel like the "real" Atlantis world was the one that was just a dream and not quite right. Don't know if I'm explaining myself well at all. I really liked what you did here - very powerful. Thanks! |
Baileysmom 2009-01-18 . chapter 1 Beautiful insight. Well thought out and nicely written. Thanks. |
Alison M. DOBELL 2009-01-18 . chapter 1 Very well written but what a callous pragmatic Rodney. While I could see it turning out like this I find the saddest thing of all is that he left Sheppard behind, in the dust of a world that had never cared for him and never really knew him. He deserved better. He deserved to be given a hero's funeral, perhaps with his coffin being fired into space - whatever - but with an acknowledgement of his sacrifice rather than Rodney simply, calmly, and without any regret for manipulating him, showing some emotion. I thought Vegas was a great episode though in my head and my heart I always had Rodney pull out all the stops to get to Sheppard and fix him - maybe with Asgard technology or whatever. Ali D |
Ocean 2009-01-18 . chapter 1 What a cold and horrible Rodney this one was. He used Sheppard for his own means and even after Sheppard gave his life, Rodney is still as smug and unremorseful as ever. Hated how the tpb turned Sheppard into a lonely screw up in this reality and Rodney as usual gets to shine. Horrible episode. |
