Okay the following is constructive criticism. You were doing well with the characterization in this story until this chapter. You must remember that the reason Harry chose to use his Firebolt on the first task was because he was playing to his strengths which is flying. Hermione's greatest weakness is flying because it's something you can't learn in a book so she wouldn't choose to follow this approach in order to complete the task. In fact the idea would never have occurred to her. To remain in character she would approach the dragon problem with rational thought and research the creature's weakness which has been told in the books it's the eyes.

If you make Hermione fly for the first task it would stop being another story and more the Goblet of Fire's book with Hermione's name as a substitute of Harry's.
