Quid Pro Quo reviews
Captain Jack Harkness waited for 137 years for the Doctor to rescue him. But when the time came, it was not his Doctor that arrived in the TARDIS, and what was supposed to be the end to his suffering quickly turned out to be something much less kind.

Endings reviews
“How about that?” Regenerating would be giving in: showing fear of death, fear of pain, and worse than either of those, it would mean doing what the Doctor wanted. “I win.”

This story was . . . astounding. I mean, the way everything built up.

'He just stood there, tapping his fingers on the console in a quiet, unending rhythm, as his eyes bored into Jack’s in silence.'

It was right then that I began to feel uneasy. I was like, that sounds suspiciously Master like. But that doesn't make any sense! But I kept reading, and man oh man, with him reading the records and asking for the new identity . . . woah, I was just stunned!

And poor Jack, having to listen to all that from what he thinks is the Doctor! I felt so bad for him!

Amazing story, simply amazing.

As soon as Jack made the phony identity, I couldn't help but think of the master. Ironic that it was Jack who made up the paper trail that couldn't stand up to scrutiny. It is an excellent fic. I was interrupted in the middle...probably why I was able to figure it out. It just hit me out of the blue...excellent idea, by the way! I am glad that the doctor didn't treat Jack as heartlessly as this "doctor" did. I have a need to believe that there is a place for Jack in the doctor's heart...even if not in his bed..now that is tragic.

Very nice job!

Oh my God! I love the twist at the end, How you lead us on an angst ridden trip throughout the whole chapter and them throw in that last line...
..."He tapped out a rhythm against a single manila folder lying against the control panel: the rhythm of drums." It makes you wonder whether its the Master or in fact the Doctor gone mad. Awesome fic

You know what's funny? I actually guessed who it was that Jack had met instead of 'his Doctor', but I abandoned the theory for the middle segement. But when you got to the whole 'creating a new life' part, I realised I'd been correct the first time. Especially with the Time Lord's callousness - this was really a clever piece, this might actually have happened, you know?

You characterised both of them excellently. I really felt a lot of pity for Jack in regards to all this - I can't believe the creep who said the TARDIS won't travel with him in it, it was because of the Time Lord - oh, fine, the Master - being inside, I'm sure, but he used it as an excuse. Of course, she DID try to shake Jack off, but I think I'm right, still. Brilliantly written and portrayed.

gODSPEED!

Oh, such a harsh thought, that Jack would be the very one to establish the Master in his life, to enable him for everything he did, and then to force himself to forget it all because it was too much, because he though it was the Doctor the whole time...

Such a brilliant thought, and so well played! It took me the majority of the time to finally make it click. the clues were subtle enough that I didn't even think about them the first time I read through, but then it clicks and suddenly it's blindingly obvious and you just want to yell and scream and hug Jack and tell him it's all a lie...

Outstanding. I raise my glass to you!

(Poor, poor Jack...)

Wow. You completely blindsided me with that ending. Looking back, there were several clues, and I can't believe I didn't put them together, but I think that the subtlety of the clues makes it even more impressive. Well done, you.
