I like Daniel very much, and I'd like to see him get together with Charlotte. This is a nice Daniel-centric story.

Since I saw the incredible opening I've been on the look-out for a story written afterwards, and it was delightful to find one about Dan so soon! How completely awesome was he? Anyway, a lovely little drabble, bringing together these two opposing themes in LOST.

More than once while watching the episode last night I thought "... yeah, Mel had better be watching this. :D" Adorkable Daniel screentime beyond my wildest dreams! ♥

I hadn't thought of the character in terms of the science vs. faith theme of the show, but that is a shrewd observation. Daniel reminds me of the quote about how sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic. Things that other people on the island can't accept without a leap of faith are perfectly routine and understandable to him through his research and knowledge of physics. He makes the whole debate sort of moot just by existing, really. :O

One thing, though: the way you use it here, "waxing" means "growing" or "becoming". The people of the island can't be 'waxing philosophy', but they could be waxing (becoming) philosophical. It won't even throw off your word count! :P
