La Flamingo 2009-08-15 . chapter 1In a fandom that's slowly become overrun and bogged down and (in my mind) nearing the DOA status, it's hard to find some really well written work that just screams for AWESOMENESS.
Well, I'll be damned. I found this. And all I can say is that I wish I could write with the sharp succinctity and prose that you've shown. This story is short and though I don't entirely understand everything that's going (as to where and what, which is likely more my problem than yours, perhaps), it doesn't matter. The emotion in this, the pain and the nausea are overwhelmingly conscious to us as readers, and it really puts this story at an angle that is difficult to nail. Something real. Your first section describing the headache that starts to just take over Jason's head is some of the best descriptive prose I've seen in a long time. Beautiful, painful stuff.
Bravo, and well done. You made this fandom's pulse just a little less weaker. |
morningstar67 2009-01-23 . chapter 1You had me with the first sentence. I could tangibly feel the pain that he was in.
I winced when he got sick (never did have a strong stomach lol)
The descriptions were just enough to visualize without being wordy.
Over all loved the mood |
r 2009-01-22 . chapter 1 Wow, really great! You don't get many good Bourne fics 'round these parts. I loved your characterisation of him- it's very similar to how I see him and I never see any with it. After Ultimatum, I see him as being extremely lost, confused, and empty, and you potray this quite well. Keep writing! |
Kelli 2009-01-22 . chapter 1 Really enjoyed this chapter. Excellent writing. Glad you took the time to establish the mood of the story, what he's feeling. Some hints about the future direction were intriguing. Loved the paragraph starting with "What really killed Jason Bourne". What a fab description of what Treadstone did to David to make him into Jason. That assessment, and the limitations it imposes on his future choices are interesting to consider; can he (whatever he decides to call himself?). Really liked that he is still on a search for his identity; because he stopped being David Webb almost a decade ago and he's decided that Jason Bourne is dead. Can't wait to read the next chapter! Only minor quibble, wouldn't he need to treat his injury before sleeping? |
