'latent miko abilities' In my opinion it be more correct to call them physic powers, because people overuse that word miko, and in the wrong sense of the word too. People have what I call 'other senses' have to be trained in the Japanese temples to be called a priest/priestess for that word to even be applied at all. I don't see the big draw of using it myself, but it's only my personal taste is all.

I like this story so far and keep up the good work. People just have their own likes and dislikes in writing and reading I have come to learn.

So that was a little confusing and out of the story line.
