Their kids end up together instead of them? No!
I feel depressed :(
Anyway, movin' on to your other fics in which they DO get together like they're supposed to!

Uh! I recognized the catch to the story..quite clever! You had me confused in the beginning! LOL!

Still, I am a bit disappointed that John senior and Margaret didn't make it work!

"There was no way in hell he would be attending that wedding."

This is AU - I'm intrigued!

Okay, okay. With that ending, I have to smile and be happy about it. It was a wonderful idea and kept me on the edge of my seat. I hope you had a wonderful trip to the Gold Coast.

Go Margaret! I have to admit, the suspense is keeping me hooked. Though circumstances have changed, the portrayls(?)of the characters are perfect.

Whoa. Intense. Your writing continues to be wonderful. I guess I am pacified that John and Margaret have both found a kind of happiness with their respective spouses. And children. There are children, so now what do I hope for? Niether John nor Margaret are the sort of people who would have affairs, betray people they love or hurt their children. Oh, how have you worked this out? On to the next.

Oh, now . . . this IS clever. I'm impressed. Cranford? Genius, simply genius. (though I still hope that the "proper people" still end up together.

I don't know about this! Its supremely well-written, but no John and Margaret?! You're breaking my heart. I am in tears. I'm glad the story was finished before I started reading it, because I really want to see how this turns out. Please, let everything be turn out like its supposed to--somehow.

Sorry, my review is so later, but better late than never. I was busy with the exams, but I'm almost through and needed a break, so here is the final review to this story at last.
I have to say it again, you certainly know how to surprise people ;) By the end of the chapter I finally got who was marrying who, but at first I was totally dumbfounded.
But it's a funny end, maybe a little classical, because this solution is the best one to get after not having gotten the first best one. But then, where would we be without happy endings? ^^ there had to be a way of "uniting" John T. and Margaret H./L. finally ^^
I'm looking forward to the stories that are to come! :) Cheers from a sunny Germany

What an imagination! At first I couldn't reconcile Margaret Hale and John Thornton marrying different people but then you wove a really romantic alternative. Kind of reminds me of Wuthering Heights how the next generation relives the past unrequited love. It's so strange...perhaps like Margaret Lennox and John Thorton I felt happy and wistful at the same time at the end. Great storytelling!

This is the best chapter so far! I'm sorry I didn't review the last one, but that was really good also!

I liked the idea of Margaret and John choosing each other's names for their children. It is such a nice symbol.

I wonder what the last chapter might bring, because I thought the story was already over. Because now everything seemes to be cleared. But I'm looking forward to next week.

I can perfectly comprehend their feelings. The idea for this story was quite good and you realize it very beautifully and realistically. This is another way how the story could have ended. It's maybe not as romantic in the first place and also not what the reader what have wished for in the beginning, but afterwards I was really content. Everyone is happy, so why should things have been otherwise.

Well, of course I prefer the real North and South ending above any other, but this one is a pretty alternative and really good!

Wow, what a thought that John and Margaret didn't end up together. My heart was aching when I read "Elizabeth" instead of Margaret. This is well written and I am very much looking forward to more.

it is so hard not to root for Margaret and John. but this is really well written, and developed. i like that it jumps back in time to develop how things ended up here. i do not like Henry, so i'm still secretly rooting for John! ok, well not so secretly rooting.

Hello! I was initially nervous about reading this story: John and Margaret mean so much to me that I didn't want them to be apart. Now, however, I'm enjoying it very much and I don't know what to hope for! Do I want John and Margaret together? Yes, of course, but is that an option in this paradigm that you have created? I eagerly await chapter 8!
