2009-12-04 . chapter 10
This is one of the few very long stories that I keep up with. The characters continue to evolve and so don't get stale and repetitive. The plot keeps me waiting for the next chapter. And you manage to give me a teaser to resolve one cliffhanger and give me another at the same time. grr :)

This is one seriously twisted Joker... I am terrifed of what's to come... but at the same time I can't wait!

That was definitely a roller coaster ride, from the anxiety over Mattie's first night out (including a wonderful scene between Bruce and Selina), the mourning of Helena, the heart wrenching bit at the cemetary at Jim's grave stone and of course the madness of the Joker's latest attack...

I do hope that the Gordon family is going to be okay, they are a wonderful addition to these stories, even in the small roles they play.

so-so chapter , maybe just because there wasn't that much going on,and it was more of a transition/fill-in-the-necessary confrontation scene, but the ending line was fantastic!

Nice. It's good to read a piece like this after so long. It's a pleasure for sure.

2009-09-01 . chapter 8
As I've said before, I think the reason why this is one of the more compelling series of Bat fics out there comes down to one reason - it reads, and is obviously written, like a book and not a comic book or some creative writing assignment for eighth grade English class.

Sure we have comic book characters in comic book situations with comic book things happening but the way you show every detail brings them into a real world, which is worth working through thirty page chapters for. In a comic, we may see Bruce agonizing over something but in your fics, we feel it, right alongside him.

I eagerly await the next chapter, let us hope it is not as long of a wait this time.

Now normally I try to leave thoughtful reviews for writers, often offering words of praise alongside bits of advice but after reading this much anticipated chapter, I find myself utterly speechless. In fact, I am practically bouncing up and down in my desk chair wanting more. Demanding it.

Fantastic imagery here, loaded with foreshadowing and all the wonders of the literary world. There are so many avenues you've hinted at in these eight chapters but only you know where you will lead us.

So, please, I beg of you, lead us now!!

So I just spent like two hours reading the last two chapters back to back... And just like Bruce and Mattie, I ended up crying as well. So much happened so fast and yet it all seemed like it was meant to be.

I can't believe Helena is gone, that Bruce hit Dick, Mattie fought her first criminals and that Bruce cried! Again, so much is going on and I know there is so much ahead so please update!

You can't leave us hanging like that. Please update soon. For Bruce's sake and Dick's sake I hope no one in the family gets hurt

Oh, what a brutal chapter. Then again, Bruce has never done well with guilt and has always lashed out at the worst possible times. Let's just hope Mattie doesn't do something stupid.

I wonder if Huntress did keep their identities secret? I wouldn't blame her if she didn't, the Joker didn't exactly go easy on her.

WOW.

Needless to say, that has whet my appetite for the full chapter. Bruce is REALLY in deep now. He's gotten two of his three children upset with him. I suspect Selina is going to be majorly ticked off at him. And Dick's reaction to Mattie witnessing all that...Oh, that's cold.

Nice touch, btw, that Dick and Babs keep loaded firearms around the Clocktower. Think there'll be a scene where Dick takes her to a police range for practice? Maybe he could scare up some "advanced" ammunition for them to use? (I keep imagining the scene in Thomas Harris' book "Red Dragon" where Will Graham takes Molly to the range and the rangemaster ponders what potential target would need five Glaser safety shots to take down) I think that Dick could score some Glasers for Clocktower use.

BTW, are you aware that this single, teaser, POV is as long (if not longer) than many full chapters by other authors? That's why there are many immitators, but only one, TRUE, DC Luder. :-D

I do hope the rest is coming shortly. :-D

Wow.

Another awesome chapter. Sorry it's taken me this long to post a review for it. All the POV's were bang on, as usual. :-)

I liked Selina's pondering about how it feels to be on the Bat-side of a Joker duel. She had never really been on-team in previous big battles with the Joker, and since she and Bruce settled down there haven't been that many encounters with the Rogues Gallery...at least not major ones like in the old days. I wonder if the Joker's return to form may act as a catalyst for some of the others.

Ah my, that is SO Dick: to do a speed-cleaning session of the apartment and then get take-out. His conversation with Bruce was good, but my favourite bit of that was his wondering what happened to his candy bar and soda stash (that Mattie had consumed in the previous chapter). LOL

I must say, Mattie's POV is always a highlight of the chapter. She certainly is determined to get as much information about the crimefighting lifestyle as she can out of Bruce. I wonder if he caught on to his including her when referring to the Bat-family? And ouch! Poor Bruce. I hope he remembers to wear a full hat next time at the barn. LOL

Bruce's POV was good...But I must admit that the best line in it was his muttering about King Tut needing another knock on the head. LOL That would be a good Rogue for Mattie to start her crimefighting career on; either him or Egghead. :-D I'm sure, btw, that sooner or later, Alfred will decide his presence is needed at home. :-D

Babs POV: Best line she's had in this fic was about Bob "living large". LMAO

And OMG...Tim's POV has to be one of the best you've ever done. The Joker has truly changed the game. I hope Tim doesn't beat himself up too badly for letting him go in favour of helping Huntress. It's truly what Bruce would have done.

I cannot wait for Chapter 8. :-) Well done.
