Anyway, this is a double giftfic I gather (for two different occasions). Knowing the person it's for, I think you did a great job, I can really see her enjoying this, she's really on a Dante/Lady kick, hehe XD. The plot, for lack of a better word, was uncomplicated, fun and impish, which the writing style matched up to great as well as the characterization. The unrepentant ill-manners of Dante and minor guilty sins of Lady (that she would have kicked his ass otherwise, was also a glutton and so on) have this born-to-be-an-anecdote feel to it, I really like that you just wanted to have fun with these two, wrote their personalities in a humorous way, and amused. There was only one mention of Hell and demons and even that was pulled off in a funny manner. I think some people feel pressured to pay homage to the serious nature of Devil May Cry and in the process compromise the mood of a story, but that didn't happen here. Not that I don't think integrity is important, it helps in on-going stories, but this is just a one-shot, your aim was entertainment and you never forgot it.
The only time I slipped at all was at "Out was the pool table and in was a water fountain centerpiece". I had to read that about 3 times to figure it out, but I think that could have been my bad, I just wanted to share it so you know I'm not saying just positive things on purpose, you did great . |
