Dude, dude, dude, /dude/. Sorry for calling you a dude, by the way. But, dude. This was just so good. I mean, you perfectly caught the awkwardness that is growing up, and all the sexual awakening therein (did I just say those last three words? Jesus I'm being weird) without making it totally awkward. Which I'm sure this whole plot could have become if someone else was writing it. Instead it just felt natural and, what's more, something I could relate to (despite the fact that I'm a chick...but...yeah), with an added touch of total realism. Matt doesn't get Mello in the end, in fact, he loses him. And sad endings always get me. They're just so much more real and telling than happy ones.
I also have to commend you on your characterizations. Matt wasn't social! He almost always is in fic, which confuses me, because HTR13 basically said 'No, Matt is /not/ social, guys,' so I don't know if it's wishful thinking or what, but I just generally end up annoyed at social!Matt, because it's OOC and he shows up constantly like that. Mello is more the social one, for all his anger and emotional issues, he would have more friends, and Matt would just have Mello. Which is sad, especially when Mello leaves, but realistic.
This story...I don't even know. It's just. Wonderful. I adore it basically.
Also, guh. Matt using his goggles to not make noise. Total. New. Kink. Frick, you're awesome. D:

I really, really liked this story!! I'm just sad that it didn't have a happy ending. I'd just like to one, and that is that I really like how long this was! It's so refreshing for a one shot to be nice and long like this.

...This was sad. So very, very sad. But it was also so very good.
I like the way you interpreted Matt and Mello. Usually, when I read a story about Mello, he's usually really rash and loud and eating chocolate. (Then again,I haven't read too many Matt and Mello stories before...) But he seemed quite calm and I loved how you made it so he studied and worked hard to beat Near.
As for Matt, well, I don't really know what to say. I really liked everything about him in this story. Something that really made an impact on me was how he didn't have enough courage to actually kiss Mello, and how frantic he became after he left without a word. Very touching, this story.
The only thing I didn't really like about this story was the whole Touching-And-Getting-Touched part. I understand it's necessary to the plot, but I just didn't really like it xD Probably 'cause it wasn't Mello. Anways, a very lovely, unique story you have here :) (And I'm very sorry for the long review. The longest I've ever written, actually.)

This was an amazing oneshot. Definitely has to be one of my faves. I love the way you portrayed their characters, especially Matt who can be slightly difficult to write. Everything was well developed and felt "real" despite being fanfiction.

Oh, wow. Wow, wow, wow. That ending... got me right there -points to chest- It was achingly beautiful. I love how you can do such extremely sad stories but do gutbursting funny ones at the same time. You have a true talent, and I hope you can follow the dream of becoming a writer - it seems like such a good fit for you. Anyway, the characters were portrayed perfectly.
