Tokogawa 2009-02-25 . chapter 1A wonderful character study. This shines and shows the subtle, somewhat murky and involved inner thoughts.Katara is a young woman conflicted by the meaning of her life, herself and the unique place she has in the world. Her life has made her this specific person and strangely has given her all the abilities not to sit there, all the reasons not to accept her lot. The beauty of Physician, Heal Thyself is that you are presented with all this taken from a view that is far more dark and somber than Katara at first appears. Her voice seems seasoned by all her life, just like Aang, beyond and to the age of fourteen. Even more, these are things, though not stated, that she feels are hers alone, in her veiw.
The last line is quite lovely because it returns from her introspection to something she said before and recounts the need to not only help herself, but those around her. |
paynesgrey 2009-02-20 . chapter 1Oh my God! This is fantastic. It's the best representation of Katara, inside and out, that I have ever read. You really get to the core of her feelings and emotions, and the ending is so poignant of Katara's character. Great job! I'm definitely adding this to my favorites. |
