Wow. I don't know what else to say. The motif of Lucius being abused or at least neglected as a child is fairly common, but I have to say this is possible the best use of said motif that I have seen.

Now the question is how Hermione will respond.

Great chapter! It's interesting to see the transformation her opinions of people have undergone so far, first with Lucius, now with Ron. This makes me wonder what her psychological state at the beginning of the story was. Was she fooling herself or was she genuinely happy? Or maybe just content?
