Very cute and very well-written. You portrayed the dynamic of their relationship and all of the characters involved very well.

"Simon sat on the edge of her bed and rested his hand on River’s stomach, grinning, as they both caught their breath, and he gazed at her for a long moment in the dim light. River gazed back silently as her heartbeat began to slow, a wave of fatigue washing over her unexpectedly, her limbs becoming suddenly leaden and tired as the aftereffects ... caught up with her. Simon gently threaded his thick fingers affectionately through his sister’s dark brown hair."

These descriptions call to mind a rather different image than you may have intended.

But I don't dislike it.

Very nice– a sweet moment between brother and sister! There aren't enough of them out there. Great characterization, too, and I loved how you ended it!

I like your descriptions. Very much. You've communicated what it would feel like to run around Serenity and brought up all sorts of images from the series in my mind. Both Simon and River are quite in character and I can imagine them having a conversation very much like this after 'Objects in Space' took place.
The openness of the ending is perfect, just like the series. Enough closure to rest on but ending at a point where you could continue... (apologies, I'm rambling)
Anyhow. You've definitely contributed something valuable to the fandom for writing this. Thank you.

Loved the Simon and River sibling cuteness, there could always be more of it so go for it. In some ways I look up to Simon as a model of how a big sibling should be. My older brother was never that way with me so I try to be a good big sibling to my much younger brother, try to follow Simon's example and love my little sibling very much and effectionately. I liked how during their playing everything turned into the woods in their minds, that was beautiful. Just a note for future reference: This story was great, just keep in mind that I don't read things where River is "all better" and she's just a normal psychic assassin, that's boring, if she isn't touched in the wits I don't read. But I love seeing her feeling happy and safe and having fun, the two things do not have to be opposite. This was cuteness in a can and so you have acomplished your goal. Cute and sweet.
