I do have a few questions, though. Wouldn't Jasper have ralized sooner that Alice was a vampire? I mean, even with being so pre-occupied with his thirst, and her having weird eyes, isn't a vampire's mental capacity so large that he would have noted her appearance and smell and put it together? And also, how did Alice know why he chose not to buy the diary? She would have seen that he bought something else instead and therefore known that he had changed is mind, but she can't see the reasons...

I did like this beginning though! Jasper is my favourite character, so I am excited to read a story about him!

did you just make a guess as to when eh was changed? there wasn't enough info in eclipse for me to work it out. SM says he enlisted in 1861. the confederate army only formed after the attack on Ft Sumter in april 1862.
