Bluetiger 2009-07-23 . chapter 3While I'm sure it could've been done with a little more poise and grace, the fact that Hank survived his first flight in one of Grey's machines (despite the best efforts of Kosar's birds and a passing gnat) can only been seen as a fantastic accomplishment. Although I bet he was still rather glad to be able swap his puny flying machine for something a little larger when the opportunity presented itself. :D
I love the way that Grey, despite living in a magical realm that's full of the weird and wonderful, assumes that the White Place is serenely gliding over the battlefield thanks to a bit of advanced mechanical engineering. XD
I'm a little surprised that, after seeing a helpless Eric being snatched away by a vengeful Kosar, Diana was so easily distracted from her attempt to rescue him by the mere appearance of the ex-queen Zinn, who, given the array of powerful adversaries that our heroes are already up against, seems a little light weight by comparison. Still it seems that Eric managed to find a way to defeat his love rival without anyone else's assistance, using his wits to reverse his fortunes and claim what must be the most impressive victory so far. Having said that though, I don't like the sound of that whole 'consumed by evil' business. O_O
Poor Presto, I guess it's all very well having awesome magical powers but he really does need to work on that whole self confidence thing if he wants to weild them effectively. Certainly there must be a better way for him to harden his resolve, when he's locked in a magical battle of wills with Furnus, than thinking about his dismal failures at arm wrestling, lol. ;)
I like Furnus's gambit to end the battle, although I am a little surprised that she should choose to play her trump card so soon, I mean I know the battle wasn't really going her way at that point, but still, she's not exactly got her back to wall just yet. I suppose that she might have been lying to Presto simply to gain a momentary advantage from his distraction, but I rather suspect that she was being deadly serious. Given just how badly things went for our heroes the last time that what's his face showed up, I struggle to see just what they can do about him this time, given their already pretty dire straights. Hmm, perhaps if he gives the matter some thought, Presto might be able to find some way to turn this horrible situation to his advantage, well that's assuming that those two fire dragons don't mind waiting for him to think things through of course. :)
This a great chapter and I've really enjoyed reading it, even if I'm a little late with this review (sorry). I hope that it won't take too long for you to post more, but if it does then I guess it does, I'll just have to try and be a little patient *bites finger nails in anticipation*. =) |
Bluetiger 2009-06-04 . chapter 2Although he was never my favourite character, I really like what you've done with Hank here. His thoughts about Sheila and Presto were actually quite touching, and the way that he wanted the best for the woman he loves, even if meant letting her go, really seemed to bring Hank's character full circle. As to whether that's some sort of foreshadowing or not, well I guess I'll just have to wait and see. :)
Poor Eric, his desire to keep Diana as safe as possible is perfectly understandable given her condition, even if he's the only one who seems to think so, lol. While her clear intention to continue as she always has, does seem pretty true to her character, it does seem to place both her and Eric (who if nothing else, is going to be pretty distracted when the fighting starts) at much greater risk. Still, I'm sure Presto knows best. ;)
While I admire Bobby's desire to keep little Bluebell with him, I can't help but wonder just what he was thinking when he tried to refuse Varla's offer, since I'd have thought that almost anything would be better than taking her into the heart of a raging battle. O_O
I guess, given where the Young Ones have ended up, that it's not just Hank who's come full circle. Having both Venger and Tiamat also show up for this unexpected reunion, was quite a nice touch, I like how it's a little like old times, but just in a completely different way. :D
While I love the idea of Grey's flying machines, and the way that Varla was able to conceal them from the enemy, I couldn't quite work out just how he was seemingly able to fly two machines at once, but I guess I probably just missed something there, lol. Oh, and while I can see the strategic sense in it, I'm not sure that attempting to rain arrows onto a battlefield, while simultaneously learning to pilot a novel flying machine, is really going to be as easy for old One-Eye as everyone seems to think. XD
While late, rambling review is kinda late and rambling, I still really enjoyed reading this chapter, and, given the way that it ends, I'm can hardly wait to read more, so update soon! =) |
elektralyte 2009-05-22 . chapter 2‘And I’ll have you know that “old British guy” was Laurence Olivier…’
‘I thought he was the King…?’
Diana sighed. ‘He was playing the King. Good God, woman.’
LOL! Oh Sheila... |
DDestind9 2009-05-20 . chapter 2The charge is on! Aw man, you know this made my day.
Of course, that's our Diana, even pregnet, she ain't backin down. None of them are. And imagining Presto all out running into battle!
I'm pumped for the next chapter!

Bluetiger 2009-03-06 . chapter 1Poor Bobby, that was awful lot to take in in one go, but he seemed to take it quite well. His reaction to Presto's news, was particularly well done I thought, after all, even though Presto's justification for not sharing everything he knows with his friends, seems very reasonable (aswell as being quite well argued), on an emotional level, it's still going to feel like a sort of betrayal. :(
I love the boastful way that Eric talks about his own virility, and Diana's resulting condition, as if he didn't have his arm around the said Acrobat at the time, it seemed quite in character for older Eric somehow. :D
That Presto should unexpectedly defer to Hank at the end of the chapter, was a really nice touch. Oh, and the way that Rahmoud's rousing speech in support of Hank, was somewhat deflated by the Innkeeper's peevish tutting, certainly made me smile. XD
While I enjoyed reading it, I can't help but feel a little sad that this chapter sorta marks the beginning of the end for this brilliant story arc. Still, having said that, I can hardly wait for the next part, so update soon! =) |
Polgara of Erat 2009-03-05 . chapter 1Yay for more New Adventures! I really like Bobbys reactions to all the revelations... Looking forward to the next chapter. |
elektralyte 2009-03-03 . chapter 1Yay Bobby! It's good to see him and see the whole gang together again. Everyone has grown so much since the start of the series, I'm kind of sad it's coming to a close. Looking forward to the next chapter. |
