2009-10-27 . chapter 20
I've just spent the weekend in bed with the flu, and I read this story from Chapter one to Chapter twenty. Oh. My. Word. I seem to be circling round back to Thunderbirds, and look at what I find?!?

I'm not even sure where to begin. Your characterization is spot on, throughout. And the story premise is perfect. Planes are just like traveling in cars for the Tracys, and a plane crash is bound to happen. Nice to have it be of a realistic cause for a change, and not some nefarious (unlike Gordon, I DO know what it means!) cause.

The slowly unwinding thread of plot of Alan being awake through the crash and it's aftermath, and none of the others aware of it is heartrending. (Gordon and the bugs were just horrific). How that is intertwined throughout is beautifully done, as is Scott's relationship with his littlist brother. And honestly, I think the 'Property of Scott' shirt is wonderful. And poignant when Alan has to give it up as ruined.

Virgil and Gordon in the same hospital room is priceless, as they tag team John. And better yet was Gordon's dreaming about needing a unicorn to go fishing.

But I think my favorite, is what I love about all your writing, is your dialogue. Jeff's sons are just absolutely appropriate for the ages you set them. And their dialogue absolutely reflects that. Virgil deadpanning 'Wanker' instead of 'Wanking' was classic, as was Jeff being suspicious enough to not fall for it, just knowing that something was off. LOL.

John calling Alan the 'sunshine kid'. I could just hear the scarcastic snarl. Or calling him the little rat. Exactly as a brother would. Even a brother who was completely worried.

Wonderful story. I'm following this one, and going back to read your other TB stuff with glee!

Such a sweet chapter. Nice job I could picture little Alan working hard to make his family feel better.

Can't wait for your next update.

Ah, good. John and Gordon are off to go home and some rest. Alan then managed to get both Virgil and Jeff to get some sleep. Sigh. But now he needs to go out with Scott. This will either be A) an nice bonding time for the oldest and youngest Tracy sons or B) another traumatic event for Alan.

I am all for option B.

Loved the hospital scene, Alan was such a cutie. The tactic he used to get Virgil to go to sleep was so very 'Alan', I couldn't help the "Aaw" that escaped my lips when he smiled at his little victory as Virgil slumbered on. So sweet!

And Jeff gave up his cell? This is indeed a momentous occasion. Scott's surprise was understandable, his father probably hasn't willingly parted with his phone in years - if ever. :)

Sleepy, drugged-up Gordon makes me smile. And John's calm big-brother nature? *sigh* That's why I love him so much. The little brotherly banter between the two of them was just wonderful. Angst is thrilling and all (and adds that entra pinch of spice to the story), but it's the more 'normal' moments like these that I really enjoy. Well done.

Great update, Phx, dear. Looking forward to reading more!

aww, how cute was little alan-'you need some rest daddy!' and then he just passed the phone to scott cause he didn't have any pockets. i absolutly love how you write scott and alan, they're brillent in this story. and i hope we see some more of them in the next chapter, what with this errands that scott has, what ever they are.

and i like that there's some more humour coming back into it, as they all recover a bit more, it's nice.

can't wait to see what happens next,

This was lovely. I loved the brotherly moment between John and Gordon, and laughed at Virgil's version of the administrator's name (boy, does he ask for it!) And Alan's imagination game was just adorable...

aw go Alan! that was a great touch at the end. Somehow i get the feeling that if it was any of the others, Jeff would have ignored them, but as it was Alan, as was well!
Another great chapter! Also really love the relationship between Gordon and John, really fitted in perfectly!

Yay! New chapter! -happy dance- Hehe, Gordon sounds like I do when I'm on drugs. XD That would be quite an interesting headline. Wow, Jeff really good roommate -sarcasm- Ha, way to go Alan. He got Virgil to sleep. And got Jeff off the phone? Dang, little guy is on a roll. And absolutely adorable. Now I wonder how the outing with Scott is going to go. Guess I'll find out next chapter. See you then!

Oh, what an awesome chapter of family bonding!

John and Gordon on the way home were beyond fun with the bro-banter.

Alan tricking Virgil into sleeping. It was a very peaceful (despite the storm...how does that work, anyway? But it does) scene.

Virgil trying to trick Jeff into saying Blair Wanker (tee hee).

Jeff agreeing to sleep for Alan (and Virgil).

And Scott - the boy is up to something. Now the question is - what?

Awesome chapter!
