It was so...cold and inhumane, yet so humane at the same time. I get the feeling that he's saying it, trying to convince himself, not really meaning it but repeating it over and over like a mantra to keep his heart cold.

She was quiet, her face pale, her eyes full of a terrible sadness that ripped at his heart. His hands shook and he clenched them, trying to make the shaking stop, but it wouldn't go away.
"Only the strong survive," he muttered, his eyes bright with emotion.
"Avada Kedavra," the voice said, and the words were so emotionless that it made Draco want to scream. She shouldn't be killed like this, he thought, not in this cold nothingness. She deserves better, if they're going to kill her why aren't they angry at her, how can they be so cold and kill someone like that?
She was not shaking, and she turned her head a fraction of an inch. Her eyes met his and he realized the extent of her love for him.
Then she crumpled to the floor, dead.
"Only the strong survive," he muttered, and horrified, he realized he had been muttering it all along. He tried to stop but the words came back, his mantra, the life he had chosen. "Only the strong survive..."

BRILLIANT! I have a weakness for "Draco thinking about his family" fics. Or just the Malfoys in general. There are always so many possibilities... Great story! Please write more like this!

Really, really, really good. A lot of fics with Draco thinking about his father have Malfoy hating him, but I really think that's what goes on in his mind. I don't like stories with the villan thinking thoughts that are sweet and sympathetic. It ruins their character! Those stories SUCK! And I can say that 'coz I've written one and it sucks. Original and great.

Nice, very nice. Short but sweet. Now I *must* write a story since you are posting so many new ones. :) I like this story a lot. Please write more Malfoy- you do his character well.

Very good. I did not expect to enjoy this but I did. althought I was left with several questions ... Why does Draco hate that trio? Why does he object to their happiness? Why does Draco's mother cry? Is he taking refuge in a belief that his fathers cause will win? I hope I see more from you.
