The General G of K
2009-11-15 . chapter 1
So beautifully written. The thing I love most about your writing is that everything is so delightfully subtle. It's not like every turn is an anvil ready to smack the reader in the face. The development of Juliet and Sawyer's relationship is so real, and I buy it. And the pain for Kate is real too. Once again, there is seriously no comparison to your talent as an author.

"He’s so damn tired of breaking things."

This was so Sawyer...James, whatever. Perfect, to a t, I could hear his accent in your writing.

So yeah, i liked it.

I don't know how I missed this the first time around, but I'm glad I found it. What a wonderful fic.

He relaxes. “You got a bed, you know.”

“I know.” She gives him a slight smile. “Morning.”

“Morning.” He says it quiet, because there’s something gentle about the moment, something that it’d be all too easy to shatter. He’s so damn tired of breaking things. He smiles back at her.

I really enjoyed this scene. As James said, there was something 'gentle'. That's what makes this pairing so good. Truth. Genuine, unguarded truth. Moments like this and how James recognizes it are wonderful.

I also like your Sawyer voice and his descriptions of Miles and teaching Jinn the swear. Very well done.

Please write more, star.

This was beautiful; the writing was so fluent, poetic and breath-taking! I'm not a big fan of the Sawyer/Juliet ship, but I liked this story because here, one sees the actual transition: how his feelings for Kate were subdued and how he started looking at Juliet in a different light. There wasn't such a transition on the show and I guess that's what bothers me. It's a very believable piece, and I can really picture this happening. I also like to believe that his feelings for Kate would never wholly disappear, but Sawyer deserves to be someone's number one (and he always was Kate's second choice, which bumbs me out). Anyways, enough of my lamentations. Just - amazing writing and I really hope you'll decide to write some more Skate & Suliet in the future.

Very, very excellent, as always.

This is exactly how Juliet and Sawyer are. A very honest portrayal of Sawyer deciding to reach for some happiness.

Brilliant I am so loving this and I really hope that you continue on with it. Who ever knew that Juliet and Sawyer could have such chemistry??

I really, really, really like this. And it's funny because when Sawyer and Juliet were both introduced in Season 1 and Season 3 I hated them. (For different reasons of course). But here we are, season 5 and for some reason I can't get enough of these two kids. And I really like tis story because you don't shy away from their past. Kate, Jack, you bring it all up. But it works so well and I really like this glimpse you get inside Sawyer's head. Wonderful job here.

Wow this is really good! One of the better Sawyer/Juliet stories to come out recently. I really liked that last big paragraph, especially about Juliet getting a kick out of Sawyer blushing. You should continue!

This was really cute and I love the title -- Juliet does seem to be a calming influence on Sawyer! ;D

I think this paragraph was my favourite:

"It’s easy, talking to her. He hadn’t seen that one coming. It’s easy to listen to her, too. He likes the sound of her voice, the smoothness of it; it’s nice, graceful. It makes him feel calm, like he always breathes a little easier when he’s got the sound of that voice in his ears. Sometimes he wants to close his eyes when she’s talking, let that voice roll on over his skin. Make him softer."

The other line that really stood out for me was the one about him forgetting that he's not really married to her. It was strange seeing Sawyer that settled and content! ;D

I love how open and honest they are with each other (about things they never even told Jack and Kate), and how they seem to understand one another without the need for words -- even though it started out with a lie, it seems like Sawyer's relationship with Juliet is the most genuine relationship he's ever had with a woman, or anyone for that matter.

Which you captured so well here:

"She never hesitates, never pauses a little too long or trips over the J like it’s the wrong letter to start with. He thinks maybe she doesn’t have to remind herself not to call him Sawyer."

Another highlight for me was the conversation about books -- especially the reference to Carrie being a new book.

I really hope you write more! You did a great job with this and there aren't nearly enough well written Suliet fics in existence! ;)

I want Juliet and Sawyer to get married and have lovely babies. This story is awesome. You don't forget Kate but you have Sawyer move forward with his life.

What a great story! I really like this, how you develop his relationship with Juliet as well as show how Sawyer is letting go of Kate. Nice job!
