Larner 2009-11-09 . chapter 2It took me a couple of times to get this read, and it proved well worth it! To see Legolas and Aragorn so concerned for one another was well worth it as well! |
NightShadow131 2009-10-22 . chapter 2Is this the story you were talking about after I posted that drabble about Legolas thinking about Estel near the pond? I swear you told me when you were going to post this and it's already been 7 months! *shakes head* I see how it is... Then again it really shows how much I've been around, let alone paid attention...
I really enjoyed this, though. I especially loved the conversation between Legolas and the twins. And Elrohir saying that they befriended Legolas because of a fit of insanity, lol. The way you described Legolas' pain was really well done. It really made me get into his character and really understand just how much pain he was in because of Estel's wound. And his guilt!
It's also a realistic portrayal of Legolas' feelings seeing Estel hurt for the first time. Really great job. ^^ |
 Legolas Fanatic 2009-07-20 . chapter 2Hi Tinu!
I read another one of your stories - I just love your perfect, flowing, descriptive writing style! It is simply beautiful and a great pleasure to read!
This story was so touching! The conversation between Legolas, Elladan and Elrohir was wonderfully written and a lot of relevent points were addressed. I'd never really thought about how Legolas might react to seeing a young Estel hurt... and then bringing up the topic of his mortality - deciding it was still worth it to befriend him! Your friendship stories never cease to leave me in awe of your talent, you would definitely have to be THE absolute best Legolas/Aragorn friendship fic writer out there!
And I love the twins too! It was great to see the four of them and how deep their bonds were for one another... it was just so sweet how Elladan referred to Legolas as a younger brother... the friendship is just amazing! Argh, I can't tell you in words how touching the bonds between them - and how you write it - are!
I have to agree with another one of your reviewers on that the "fit of insanity" comment from Elladan had me laughing out loud too... the entire conversation was just cute :3
Thanks so much for another brilliant story! I loved it! |
 asdfjkl; 2009-06-22 . chapter 2 i like it xD
keep writing! |
SupernaturalGeek 2009-06-15 . chapter 2That was very sweet. You described Legolas dealing with Aragorn's mortality for the first time very realistically and it was a nice touch to have the twins tell him they'd already had some practice at having a little brother when they befriended him.
I enjoyed the interaction between all four of them, very much :) |
CosmicEssence 2009-05-12 . chapter 2I'm pretty sure I'd read the first chap but not the second...odd that. Anyway, another good un from you. I like how you expanded the 'morning in imladris' scenes. Deffo hoped you would do so so yay!
Elrohir's thoughts at the end were particularly amusing and no doubt very true when trying to keep an eye on 2 younger 'brothers'. Plus I love the quotes you used...perfect. |
Imbecamiel 2009-04-18 . chapter 2Here I am at last! It's certainly taken me a lot longer than I expected... ;P
Oh, but I loved this story so much! It was so different, seeing Aragorn so new at the whole going out, getting in trouble (even through no fault of his own), getting hurt, being stoic in the face of pain, thing. And Legolas, so very unnerved by seeing Estel hurt!
And yet, even at such a different place in their experience and development, some things never change. Of course Estel notices something is up with Legolas, and, even hurting as much as he is himself, is worried about his friend, and doing his best to make him feel better. And of course Legolas is not only worried, but feels guilty for "letting" Estel get hurt, even if there's nothing he could have done differently to prevent it. :)
One of the many parts I particularly enjoyed:
//“Perhaps you could give that guy… some archery lessons,” he quipped[...]
For a moment, Legolas’ eyes glittered in a way the young man had seen only once before, when someone had dared to threaten Estel’s life in his presence. “I said… give him archery… lessons, not… use him as… target practice!” he gasped, slightly alarmed.//
Such a perfect friendshippy moment, and it made me giggle, too. :D
And I loved Elladan and Elrohir's perspective on the matter, and way of easing Legolas' burden.
*sighs happily* Such a wonderful, wonderful story, and with a number of ideas that made me look at things in ways I hadn't quite thought of before. Loved it!

 Firefly-Maj 2009-03-28 . chapter 2Hi!
I read this lovely story as a treat while having a nice mug of coffee, and it was a perfect breakfast altogether! =)
I loved the tenderness and care which the characters display for each other, as well as the notion that the twins regard Legolas as their younger brother, Elladan thus did a good job comforting him...
Legolas especially was very cute in this, by the way; "Elladan had escorted Legolas to his own room as soon as they had reached Imladris, and had stayed there until he was sure that the wood-elf had fallen asleep. Only half an hour later, Legolas had shown up in the healing rooms, looking bleary-eyed but very much awake" nearly had me melting!
Very well done! |
White Wolf1 2009-03-21 . chapter 2You did an admirable job of showing that watching a friend suffer physically can be harder than suffering the pain from a wound yourself.
I thought it was brave of Estel to hang on to consciousness and not give in to his own pain, because he knew Legolas needed him. Those two are so attuned to each other, it’s almost scary.
~...he felt as if something deep inside of him, something important, had been torn out violently and then stuffed back in again carelessly.~ Despite the terrible feeling that line conjures up, I love the way you expressed it. I’ve never seen anything descried quite like that before. You could really feel the pain in Legolas’s very soul for what had happened
The conversation between Legolas, Elladan and Elrohir was poignant and revealing. I always found it funny that each of them usually felt guilt and blame so many times when it was them unable to help another, yet they never wanted the others to feel that way under the same circumstances.
I think the discussion of mortality was a worthy sequel to “Morning in Imladris”. I’m glad you expanded it here.
I also liked the discussion of dealing with younger siblings. I think Legolas would have been an awesome big brother.
~Only some golden strands of hair and the tip of a pointed ear were peeking out at the top.~ What a lovely little vision. :o) |
 Nosterineth 2009-03-18 . chapter 2Awesome!
I love the way you depict Legolas' sense of guilt and all his thoughts. Elladan and Elrohir's care for Thranduilion is very touching, their conversation nearly brought tears to my eyes.
And Estel asking first about his friend - so typical of him! |
 Ida Cippo 2009-03-17 . chapter 2Ah Tinu,
reading your story could make me forget the horrible days and nights passed with my siblings.
Having a younger brother and sister of my own I would like to say we have an equally strong bond as the twins with Estel yet since it has never happen that either of us was shot in the leg by an arrow I did never have the chance to see if it truly was so =P
I have to admit that I was terribly curious as to how you were going to resolve this deeply troubling issue for Legolas and I am far from disappointed! ^^ It was truly touching, probably since on top of it was the additional bond which connects Legolas to the twins.
It would truly have helped Legolas to have a smaller sister first. We do have a tendency to be calmer, if not ever time ;) |
Apsenniel 2009-03-16 . chapter 2I always enjoy reading of the selfless devotion that Legolas and Estel have for each other...we should all have someone who cares for us that much! |
Carthage 2009-03-16 . chapter 2That was very sweet. I liked the bit about the twins having practice with little brothers through Legolas- for some reason, I was not expecting that, and it was a very nice moment that stuck out for me. This ending definitely did justice to the element of Aragorn's mortality in their relationships. |
Mirach 2009-03-16 . chapter 2A very fitting quote at the beginning of the chapter. And now I understand the title: in the first chapter it looked like the pain is Estel's and I wondered what is worth it. Now I see that it's a pain that's much deeper - the pain of the possible loss of a friend. And in the friendship of an elf and a mortal it's not only possible but certain... ona day. But having a true friend is worth it. As Elrohir said, it is worth the risk. A very nice story, and deep. |
