Let's see what we've got so far, Tofu's an idealistic moron who makes assumptions about Ranma's experiences and believe he is a coward thinking he is running away from them (Yeah, that makes a great deal of sense on his part to effectively utilize logic, NOT!), Kasumi is an ignorant, embittered ** who just got a taste of what it's like actively living in a world that isn't seen through rose colored glassed, Soun, at first was no better, and still isn't by a whole lot, the rest of gang of idiots have yet to learn from mistakes from dealing with Ranma, and AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO ** SEES THAT RANMA WAS ONLY DOING WHAT ANY SANE PERSON WOULD DO WHEN CONFRONTED WITH A LIFE OR DEATH SITUATION!?!?! Granted, while I don't exactly approve of Ranma being out of control of his emotions to such an extent, his way of handling a dangerous confrontation, namely his fighting methods I approve wholeheartedly. Let's face it people, a fight out on the street or any other place outside a dojo is just as WFROSE describes it, chaotic and brutal, in those kinds of circumstances you don't have any time for scruples, at worst yuo'll probably have to kill your assailant at best the extent of the damage that will be done to your attacker will be listed either under as being maimed or crippled. If you don't believe me let's look at the facts, in the manga Kuno's skills gave him the ability to shatter a statue with just the air preassure of his strikes, not to mention the fact he cut down a tree and rammed through a brick wall with just his boken. While any of the feats performed with a wooden sword listed above are not possible from our perspective, a boken does have the potential to cripple or even kill someone. Off the record, I am also speaking from personal experience, I have got struck by bokens before and they hurt like hell, I also nearly killed my sparring partner accidentally when I hit his temple and gave him a moderate concussion. I'm not joking, he nearly died in that time period. But I digress, the fact of the matter is that from what I can tell from Kuno and Ranma's fight, Kuno, due to what we've seen from his attitude and behavior would'nt have thought twice about doing to Ranma what Ranma did to him. The only key difference is that Kuno would have probably got off with nothing more than a slap on the wrist because who knows how many school authority figures his family has under their heel. The same can be said for Kodachi to a far greater extreme due to her mugging of other opponents before her matches and her use of even more dangerous weapons: razor hoops, spiked clubs, etc., not to mention her use of various poisons and narcotics. Really makes you have faith in the Justice system, DOESN'T IT? and then ther's the fact that Mousse tried to all but assasinate Ranma and Ryoga tried to outright kill him in broad daylight in front of a large group of people. Considering what we've seen from those two, they are far more dangerous than Ranma by far. Ryoga being the greater of the two because from what I can see, he has all the characteristics of classic psychopath, a complete and utter disregard fo life, namely human life, exemplified perfectly when he made his fist attack on Ranma while he was in close proximity to Akane and Nabiki. Had Ranma not acted in that instant he would have definitely been killed and the Tendo sisters along with him if not severely injured. Hell, his only comment was that he missed his target and gave no other thought to the bystanders in Ranma's presence. It really ** me off to think that people can make assumptions about what happens in a life threatening situation and what is the so called proper response to said circumstances. Emotional instability aside, Ranma has not done anything that a normal, albeit very well trained, person would do in his place. It's the same principle as being a police officer, the worst they are forced to do in dangerous situations is kill someone or if they can restrain them and that can lead to severe injuries in the part of the suspect, namely broken bones, internal injuries, etc. Civilians are given the same rights as well though to a much lesser degree. So far, no one has actually been killed by ranma personally/directly. (Note, Ranma going berserk during his fight with Ryoga at the school grounds does not count, that incident comes about directly as a result of the fight or flight syndrome, you aren't actually performing concious thought, you are acting on instinct alone). Major injuries already caused nonwithstanding, Ranma hasn't actually tried to kill anyone in cold blood, he's only reacting to life threatening situations as his experiences have taught him and maiming, crippling, even killing attacks coming from our favored protagonist seem to be par for the course as it would seem. What outrages me to no end is the fact when some idiot comes at Ranma with the intent to severely injure him or worse and he responds in kind, he is always treated as if he's the bad guy or some kind of rabid animal!! REALITY CHECK, MORONS, SELF DEFENSE IN MARTIAL ARTS ISN'T PRETTY OR PROPER AND IT'S DEFINITELY NOT FOR ** **! IF THEY CAN'T GET USED TO THAT FACT THEN THEY BETTER TAKE UP SOME OTHER KIND OF PASTIME BECAUSE ALL THAT NON-VIOLENCE ** IS GOING TO DO IS GET YOU BUTCHED LIKE A PIG!

Very interesting story. Well written. It is interesting how you have made Ranma and the route you took with both Kasumi and Akane. Nabiki is not really a suprise with how things went. Kodachi is a bit of a suprise, but is interesting, none the less. I really hope you decide to continue this fic.

It's sad to see a story this interesting and absorbing go unupdated for four years. Think your muse is up to getting back into it?

Wow. Unbelievable story. I stumbled on to your work via 'Akane the suicidal' and the other humor stories, but this is one of my favorites. I can't believe someone with great humor work under them can write such a story!
It was a bit angsty at first, but it got better quickly. I was surprised at the directions it took from the beginning, especially Kasumi's change in role. Kasumi's image in the story was incredible; I've never seen such a portrayal. It's usually 'innocent, saint of a housewife who's secretely hot'. I loved it. The emotional aspect of the story was great, if a bit hard to follow. It went to hardcore drama incredibly quickly. It does keep the reader enthused though. Its a bit hard to read a story that keeps a reader at a high charge through the entire thing, but it did very well, and the reader can even try to see through all the wildly different viewpoints. Sucks that you decided to stop though, especially at that part. If it's not too much trouble, could you tell me where you were going to take the story, plot-wise?

just discovered this old fic. I was pretty skeptical at first, but the angst was cathartic in the beginning and then it went wild, took a life of its own, and I just had to read the conclusion. surprised you stopped here. destruction isn't as fullfiling as creation I guess. thanx for the read

Very nice, I would really enjoy an update, but am not too expectant. It is refreshing to have the traditional characters portrayed in such a way. It is an almost perfect foil to the cannon series. There were a few consistency errors, mostly dealing with Ukyo’s gender, I can understand people mistaking her for a guy, and a third person narration would perpetuate that, but you quite clearly had Soun refer to Ukyo as a ‘she’ when he explained about having to tell Ukyo Akane’s story. Also, Nabiki didn’t catch that line, I am probably over analyzing it, but I just had to point it out. Ciao

Great story, very emotional, very dark, but very powerful. The fight scenes unfotunately leave much to be desired, they're... too long, and too detailed. I like detail, but not to the point that it explains their every movement. I've been finding myself skipping over a lot of the fights, which I haven't done in our other fics.

Still, it's a great story and I can't wait to read more. Keep up the fantastic work.

Briliant,

still I have to say that you do not understand the true philosophy of martial. The get the basic idea but you lack that acceptance that most practitioner sort and the one of the points that kept cropping up as I read the story.

Of course, the story itself is well done, espacially the second arc, I love how you portray Nabiki.

Laying on the angst just a litle thick, aren't we? Now you've burnt all your metaphorical bridges, this story is heading down a one way angst street with no repreive save for a deus ex machina. Probably why it hasn't been updated in a while.

DUDE...let me tell you something about your way of explaininga fight scene...describing word for word which way each foot gets moved 15 degrees to the right to alleviate the weight difference from forward to back then to shift the other foot in a blah blah blah dude get with the fight and ignore the unimportant shifting of everything but the necessary damn i had to skip half of the fight scenes because you tried to write word for word what was happening to both people during the fight...explain the fight and what not just dont do it in first person mode and thought process...besides that its a good story but ** sucks to read the way it is now.

This has been a great story to read, leaving people in suspense about the future of Ranma, Nabiki's self-esteem, Kasumi's demons, and Akane's confusion. I hope you can continue this story. It is a great concept.
