Aww.. somehow his decision not to stay over, therefore making the advance in their relationship slower, it fits.
I love how you write them. I mean, I've read Jane breaking in Lisbon's home a couple of times, but this one was different; from the way to write that she actually screamed in surprise to the fact that she didn't give in easily to his presence.
This little shifts, the little actions that they share are stronger than simple words. Him thinking that she'd kick him out just to find out that she changed her mind and was accepting him to spend the night, to the very very sweet thing that he was anticipating her falling asleep, and even though he'd get a backache from sleeping or laying that way, it didn't matter because she was comfortable, close and safe..

Really loved this story, you struck an awesome balance between their bickering and the little moments where there's something more going on. One of the things I really like about the show is how the theme of trust gets woven into the episodes over time, sometimes in subtle ways and other times not, I liked that you drew on that for this. Great work, I hope you write more Mentalist fics ^^

Sweet. Very good insight into their characters. I love stories that show Jane's side of things, as it's very complex and hard to do as well as you did. The end bit was unexpected, but it fit.

Oh my God! That was fantastic!! I had read the first couple of lines previously (but then stupid reality got in my way and I had to take a sojourn which is over now). You really nailed their dynamics and how I think they see themselves (and how they should hold people away and just WHO is sleeping beneath their guards).

A few lines I really, really loved:

"There were few images that he found more alluring than an angry Teresa Lisbon."

"...terrifying silence on the other end of a phone line."

And I really adored the idea of Lisbon being both mentor and student to Jane- what a wonderful way to think of it. I hope you write more (and soon, and often ;P). A really fabulous story. Thanks for sharing!

This is a truly gorgeous story. Just so full of tenderness and yet so tentative, hesitant, also. There's so much going on here that I'll need to read it again when I'm less tired!! But already at first reading I just love this. I hope you write a sequel or at least more Jane/Lisbon soon!
