loved so much of it. loved your jack. especially that last line (like you knew i would!)

and how breathtaking! a little bit of the highwayman. a little bit of poetry wafting on the evening air... "When the road is a ribbon of moonlight over the purple moor"...

finally, now maybe we know why he didn't die in lahore-she'd asked for their protection and begrudgingly they'd given it... to a point. only to a point...

and that last line? wow.

Beautifully written, well told story. You drew wonderfully on what we know about the characters, filled in some back story without it being obvious from the start where you were going. And briefly, one wondered... is the Jack and Estelle... it must be... ah yes, of course it is! Loved the faerie folk lore. Beautiful little piece, you set the time of year and the light and the weather and everything just by reference to the snowdrops. Very poetic. Loved it!

Oh that was great!And adding in 'The Highwayman' was a nice touch.

That was lovely. Soft and sweet without being weaving in the fairies just sowed the seeds for the end of Estelle's life. I really enjoyed reading the story, thanks for sharing.
