2009-08-23 . chapter 10
The cold ball felt smooth on his WARRIOR-LIKE HANDS, and his sleepless eyes absorbed everything that it showed. “What are you planning?” he murmured. He could not believe that his son was dead. He refused to believe it. Not until he saw Boromir’s body would he believe it. IT HAD TO SOME SORT OF PLAN. Denethor blinked as he felt the blood drawn from his face.

I'm not sure how hands can be warrior like. Maybe another description would be clearer?
Also "it had to some sort of plan" doesn't make sense. Did you miss a word?

A breeze RUFLED the mens' hair as Boromir looked at him, confused.

It's ruffled.

There WASNO point. Aragorn grinned at him, and as if to try and lighten the mood, he slapped his fellow man's shoulder good naturedly.

It's was no.

Relief flooded in the Gondorian's eyes, and he could not help but SMILED meekly as they turned back to the camp.

It should be smile in the present tense.

Feel the Wrath of Moar Nitpicking!

Suddenly, there was a COMOTION coming from the hall, and Hàma came towards us, slightly BWILDERED. My uncle raised his hands so that everyone was silent, and looked at the doorwarden.

It's commotion and bewildered.

I stared. By kneeling, Boromir was admiting total SURRENDEUR to Gondor's heir. He was the Steward's son, and by doing this, Boromir was giving up his own rights as the future Steward.

It's surrender. Feel the wrath of nitpicking!

It's up to us then," murmered Elfhelm. Éomer was about to reply when the door to the study suddenly opened by a GAURD that Boromir had not noticed before. Eadwin entered, slightly flustered. He walked towards Éomer, and stopped when he was between Elfhelm and the Marshal.

"My lords... Gandalf the Grey is SEAKING your audience."

You spelled guard and seeking wrong. Good story otherwise.

This chapter is great! It's the best 'using the palantir' scene I've read to date.

Great chapter! I had always been curious to know what will happen to Boromir is he was alive, and now I can read about it. This story is simply wonderful. Please update soon.

Interesting setup. I always liked the idea of Boromir surviving. it would be best if he doesn't get corrupted by the ring again and openly defies Sauruman joining the final battle against the Witch King.

I like your book/movie combo. I've seen some pretty bad jobs of combining the two, but you are balancing it out very well, keeping the important features from both.

Update son!

"Arod bottled"? Did you mean "bolted"? Good chapter!

I hope there are some nasty surprises in store for Boromir...I was a little let-down by the lack of surprise or emotion shown by the Fellowship when they found Boromir to be alive. Telling this chapter from Eomer's perspective was a nice way to mix it up, though I don't like your style quite so much in this one as I did in the previous one (first person will do that to ya!). Can't wait for the next chapter.

I liked the comment about 'spitting men back from the graves'. I've always liked Eomer, I've always thought that any character that interesting deserved more screen time/page time, and you are doing an excellent job of portraying him. I loved how you added in the detail about Boromir regretting telling Eadwin immediately after he finished. Not to overshare, but it's nice to see the cliche of having 'a weight lifted of his/her shoulders as soon as he/she confided in someone' broken. Alot of the time, you're only half way through confiding in someone and you're already starting to regret it. I liked that you included that. And you're still doing a very good job of showing rather than telling. Having Boromir whirl around and nearly attack Eadwin, and having his mouth go dry when he saw the fellowship, instead of just saying that he was nervous, both very good calls. My creative writing teacher would be most pleased with you. Keep up the good work! Please update again soon! The comment at the end of the Boromir section really made me want to jump into the computer screen and hug him. You're doing a very good job of keeping Boromir nice and sexy! :)

You have, once again, done an excellent job. It would have been nice to see the battle in more detail, but you did a good job of portraying it as a flashback instead, and it *is* LOTR, so it's not like you're going to lack for potential battle scenes. I LOVED how you portrayed Boromir's response to nearly encountering the rest of the fellowship. You didn't go into thought details, instead going for the 'let the actions tell the story' move, and it was an EXCELLENT call. Way more powerful that way. I remember my creative writing teacher in high school was always going on about that, "show, don't tell" was her motto, and she would have been very pleased with your writing right there! It would be interesting (I don't know if it would be good, but it would be interesting) if you didn't make all of the fellowship forgive him right off the bat. That, probably more than just about anything would give you drama. Again, I don't know if it would be any good, but you would be the first to ever try it, and you would definitely get drama out of it. But hey, just an idea, and it's my idea, and I don't even know if I like it. Just remember, an angsty Boromir is a sexy Boromir. The longer it takes for him to forgive himself, the sexier he becomes. Thanks for updating so frequently! Most authors don't, and as a reader, I really appreciate it. Good work! :)

Ah ha, now it gets messy! Boromir thinks Gandalf is dead, and Gandalf/Aragorn/Gimli/Legolas think Boromir is dead...I'm excited to see what happens next.
