This was a really great story! I was a little dubious at first, but the outside narration is very effective, as is the OC. "a man who could not understand the world and a world that did not understand this man" quite possibly one of the best descriptions of Javert's conflict I've heard. This was a very very nice story!

Every time I read one of these stories, with a romance involving Javert that STILL ends up with him throwing himself into the Seine I just about cry and feel like I'm drowning myself. Dang. Well, it's extremely evocative anyway.

That was really beautiful. :) If I'd have tried to do something similar I'd have used some sort of floating omniscient presence as my narrator, but it's far better from Mireille's point of view. And your Javert is fabulous!

Very well written. It was sad but beautiful at the same time. I like the way you potrayed Javert through Mireille's eyes. I also liked Valjean & Cosette's cameo appearances :o)
