Urgh, Angst. You described the difference your future Hotaru and Mikan would be and the others' recations really nice and angsty. To me, it feels as though they really do have a strong relationship, though it was buried under the years and Mikan's new found popularity. Well, other than that, I don't know how Hotaru survives all that. (Well, I suppose Hoatru is Hoaru after all)
P.S.Mikan has another flaw. She's super naive. Though, I sippose the Mikan in their eyes is too perfect for them to see that.

That was sad.
For someone to feel that way is just heartbreaking but it might as well be true. Let's face it in the story no one ever like Hotaru we all love her but we're the readers we're not in their world... Her characteristics are such a turn off... yes she's smart but she's cold and the only one to see past that is Mikan... heck! if somehow I know a Hotaru in my life i'm not so sure if I'll befriend her... maybe I will but I'm not so sure if it would be true...
But somehow I can't help but find a part of me in Hotaru... we must admit everyone has their own insecurities event those who are vain... I have my own... and when you have those insecurities its because you compare yourself to other people... see what they have that you don't and you couldn't help but wonder why can't I be like her? sometimes it even gets to the point wherein you hate a person because of what she has that you don't.
Moreover, we usually compare ourselves to those who are closest to us and that is also what people do --i admit i also do this-- they compare you to someone you are always with, those you hang out with, and those who are related to you because they can't help but think they should be common... but the thing is that's our flaw we forget the fact that we are all different and think differently it does not mean that if someone does it we're suppose to do it...
At thid point I can't help but think of myself as a hypocrite becuase I say all these thing but I still do things the 'normal' way I don't listen to what we should do...
going back to hotaru i think the saying "our friends and families are our worst enemies" applies to her. or the saying "we also hate those we love"
Oh well i think that'll be the end of my review :D

The rumors are so mean. -sighs- And the thing about how Hotaru acted mean and refused to help the injured boy because of his Alice was very witty ^o^ I've found that it really does make people hate you when you do things because of a reason that other people don't know about, and they think it's bad.

Rawr. And it makes me feel even sadder because Ruka ditched Hotaru in her time of need when everyone else was doing their best to reject her. >:( Bad Ruka!

Love this very much. Really. I like this. This has a deep meaning. Sometimes I thought if I would end up like that with my best friend, with I am left behind, but then, it doesn't matter at all. Haha.

I think I could understand Hotaru's feeling in this story.. a little. I know this plot would not happen in the real manga, since Hotaru is kinda the 'queen of the academy' and Mikan is too stupid, she even isn't pretty, and i think hotaru is much much more beautiful than Mikan.

Still, I like your story. Ganbatte.
