DoThePieFace 2009-04-06 . chapter 4This is one of my favourite movies of all time (because I'm a sappy romantic at heart), so to have it written with the FMA characters is made of win! XD
I'm looking forward to more chapters so get writing!! XD. Even thought the POV changes each chapter it's very easy to understand whose narrating so good work there, and the character interaction is great so far as well. I'll be waiting for more!

Hey... wait, that's me! Omfg! *hops around excitedly*
Lol, so good chapter! KPOV this time, non? Allow me to point out one thing that bugged me as I was reading. This chapter was riddled with quotational errors. There were three main major errors, and here are the examples of the three types:
1) “Hello” she replied in a colder tone.
Because the part in quotations is a part of the entire sentence, you must put a comma inside the quotations to indicate that. It should be
"Hello," she replied in a colder tone.
2) “Perhaps this is a reminder of my feelings for you”
Because this entire line is one freestanding sentence, it needs to end in a period. It should be
"Perhaps this is a reminder of my feelings for you."
3) She stared gob-smacked at the diamond “Good-gracious is it a-”
Two errors. First, this line it two sentences long (You can tell because "Good gracious...etc" can be separated from She stared...etc and neither sentence will become a fragment by the separation. Therefore, there ought to be a period after diamond. Secondly, because the sentence in quotations is a question, it needs to end in a question mark even though the sentence is cut off at the end. That indicates the tone of speaking to the reader (because the question mark indicates the sound of a voice rising at the end of the sentence, as you hear when someone asks a question. "Are you hungry?" You read 'hungry' as a higher note than 'are', do you not?) So the sentence should be
She stared gob-smacked at the diamond. "Good-gracious, is it a--?" |
