I think you got Rei in-character here, seeing that she's in reality an angel/human clone hybrid who seems to think different from most humans due to her alienation from them.

Considering the fact that out of all the Children Rei was the only real soldier, while Shinji was the unprepared untrained conscript and Asuka the failure and liability it's no wonder Gendo favoured her (not to mention she was one of the keys to jumpstart Human Instrumentality).

Since Yui didn't seem to really shed tears for the victims of Second Impact and its aftermath I reckon that Gendo wouldn't have any trouble about not feeling any guilt whatsoever, even though he could suffer minor pangs of doubt.

Considering the fact that Gendo is the front guy for NERV and responsible for administrating the cover story of Project E while being tasked with following the plans for the Human Instrumentality project, he's pretty much the marionette who got hold of his own strings and now tries to pull the others strings and make them dance to his tune.

When it comes to Misato's questionable driving habits it's probably a miracle that she gets any car insurance and such. I don't think being damaged by an N2 blast and shockwave is written in the clauses.

'She's just a little tuckered out from running a few errands for me.' the doctor assured them, patting the dashboard affectionately 'Relax I'll have some primo motor oil waiting for you later.'

As if by magic, the engine revved and the wipers activated, the whole car seeming to shake before taking off at an easy pace.

Shinji, of course, was used to such action, and so simply smiled accomodatingly as he patted the window frame affectionately.

Misato, however, was staring at the radioscreen in trepidation, as she could have sworn she saw what looked like an eye-smile flash at the Doctor's offer.

But she brshed it aside as one of the car's programmed quirks, Shinji HAD said that the Doc liked to mess about with robotics.

Were she as muc as an otaku as Lt. Hyuuga however, she might have felt more concerned about the familliar Red symbol, like a robotic face, on the steering wheel.

Please update this sometime, Master Talon. It looks like it will be a great story if it can get off the ground, or at least higher into the air.

Anyway, comments. I like the Devil Doctor, interesting take on both characters for the Eva-verse. I have a feeling if he were to give a first name aside from "Doctor" it would be something along the lines of "Lou." Doctor Lou Syffer. Just thought I'd drop a line and ask for an update (please).

i've only seen 2 episodes of Evangelion but I really like this Doctor character who i'm assuming is OC. cant wait to see the new Shinji wreak havoc tho =p update some soon

sry for not reviewing sooner. i actually read this a couple of days ago but since the site was down i couldn't review, and then i forgot about it :P but you updateing helped me remember.

anyway. after watching the show i can say this definitley makes more sense. its also exactly what i would be looking for in an evangelion fic (if i was actively looking for them at the moment) shinji isn't a complete noob-to-life and you still kept that sense of WTF that i always seem to have while watching the series. so all i can ask is, is this on hiatus? cus its been a couple months.
