 The Breeze 2009-04-10 . chapter 1Perfect.
A small part of me always wondered how many people in the fleet went down, knowing that Adama was fighting on, knowing that all was not lost.
The orders, the vivid descriptions, the wistful memories as everything else is going to hell...very well done.
Nagala was wrong, but he was a professional, and he died a professional's death. Your fic also did a brief but excellent job of addressing something that is often overlooked: why didn't the fleet just unplug their computers? You even took note of little things, taking a moment to explain that not only navigation was offline but FTL as well, thus saving us from wondering, "why don't they just blind jump?"
Makes you think, though...the Cylons COULDN'T infiltrate the engines rooms of every ship...Pegasus couldn't be the only ship to do a blind jump and survive. There must be other ships out there, drifting through space, no hope, no resupply, people slowly starving as their ships run out of fuel, food and water. I'll be including a mention of one of those ships in one of my stories that I'n currently working on, but perhaps you should think about doing one too. Your vision of the death of Atlantia makes me wonder how you would write the story of a ship dying not with a bang, but with a whimper.
