Celia 2009-11-02 . chapter 1 I read "The House on Thornrose Lane" and "Return to Aysel" almost back to back. I love "Thornrose", but it was incredibly tough for me to accept that ending. It was just too sad. You can't imagine how surprised I was when I went to your collection of fanfics shortly after finishing "Thornrose" and found a sequel.
I thought you had more of a narrative here--that is, centering the plot around one fairy-tale (for the most part) made it a bit more cohesive for me. "Thornrose" felt slightly psychedelic because of the number of fairy-tales you weaved in, and the number of characters that took center-stage at some point. I liked how this story focused on just a few.
I've always loved the Usagi/Mamoru romance, and I thought you did a great job separating out Darien and Endymion. Chapter 17 gave the closure that Serena needed (and for that matter, I needed as well--I couldn't stop crying throughout), and it was probably one of my most favourite chapters from both your stories. I actually had to put the story down for a little while after that chapter before I could continue. You have a really great sense of plotting and tension. I thought the characters grew up a bit since "Thornrose"--well, Serena anyway. You definitely know when to rein in the emotional punches, and when to just let them all out. I was laughing and crying in almost equal parts, but mostly I was feeling Serena's pain and wanting her to get her happy ending.
Sorry for what amounted to a double review. I really hope you consider getting these published at some point. Thanks for writing these stories and sharing them online.
By the way, Melvin and his shape-shifting antics during the battle? Awesome. |
Sandy 2009-10-24 . chapter 21 Wow. I didn't even stop to review a lot in between the chapters. All I can say is this made me laugh and cry... it's great. In all seriousness, this is an amazing adventure, love and fantasy story. And I have to say, Melvin rocks. |
pyrojaniac 2009-10-04 . chapter 21 You know, I remember reading your fics on FirstLove when I first got into the SailorMoon fandom, and I can't stop reading them now, even years after I've gotten out of it. It's probably cause you're brilliant. Anyway, I really enjoyed reading Return to Aysel-- I couldn't put my laptop down for three days straight. It's very well written-- the characters are fleshed out in just the right amounts and your writing style is incredibly engaging. I love your take on Serena and Darien. The way their personalities reflect the original one of the characters, but are also so clearly yours. If you end up editing this and publishing it, I will buy it. And the prequel as well. And anything else you write, really, so... |
Scarlett.Sunrise 2009-10-02 . chapter 21So absolutely, stunningly beautiful. After having such an awful, romantically tragic week, come to my computer to find a story that warms my heart and moves me to tears. Thank you so much. |
~~Laladida~~ 2009-10-02 . chapter 21 I've really been reading your stories a lot and my favorite was definitely A House On Thornrose Lane: A Grimm Tale. Not only among your stories, but of all the stories I've read in !! Really, I was sad when it ended and I even made up stories in my mind of what would be possible sequels. I never thought you'd make one, but I lost my voice screaming when I found out there was a sequel! Seriously, you're such a great writer!
On your stories, I really do prefer Endymion much MUCH more than Darien. But then again, I couldn't have thought of a much better ending than this! I's totally your fan! I'm glad this time, it's a happy ending! [But I'm still a big fan of the first one!! :D] I think I still like the sequel better than this sequel but that's a matter of my taste. The story was just as great!
On a side note, I'd had wanted Briar Rose and Serena to talk. Then again, I also want Serena to go to Obelia and stay with both her parents even at least for a while. Haha!! |
smilingspaz 2009-09-23 . chapter 21i don't think i can emphasize enough how happy i am that you wrote a sequel, and it was absolutely amazing! thank you! |
jupiter2005 2009-09-23 . chapter 21sorry took me so long to update my review. i have been busy playing an online game and also moving to a new house. great story im glad they finally got to be together and that she was able to say goodbye to endymion even if it did call for her to die. but it sucked that diamond used his brother in that way and tricked her and the rest of the friends and family there. i was hoping it was him and she would of been with him for good. |
 xMelitheKonekox 2009-09-16 . chapter 21BEST. STORY. EVER.
Literally, this story had such an affect on me I became more of a Sailor Moon fangirl, haha. You never fail my expectations Alicia Blade-this story is really well thought and very, very creative. You were able to connect the real world to the fairy tale world-what I had thought of randomly when I was little but couldn't make it into..understandable concepts of fiction. But you were able to do that Alicia Blade-that alone is amazing.
Correction-you are a genius. I even had a dream about this story once. Plus on chapter 17-it made me cry. The first time a fanfiction EVER made me cry. So congrats on making that achievement. ^^ I am, and for a long time, is absolutely in love with this story. (Heck, I even had a DREAM about this story.)
The ending was adorable-made me grin at the end. The perfect ending. So cute and perfect!
You've done a great job Alicia Blade. Plus thanks to your editor again.
You did a great job again Alicia! Keep up the amazing work. I know you will. :) |
Truechinook 2009-09-09 . chapter 21OMG loved it! You've had me on the edge of my seat for the last 4 days as I read the first story and this sequel. I would love to see a one shot (or two) about Serena and Darien's "normal" life... or Melvin as a King of the elves... pretty much about anything in Aysel.
Fantastic story - thank you for writing it! |
MegTao 2009-09-01 . chapter 21I read this chapter while I was in Greece but never got the chance to review it, and then I'd forgotten I hadn't reviewed it, until now.
First, let me say that I simply loved it. The story was original and fun and sad and real. The characters were wonderfully flawed and completely lovable.
Now for the critique. Sinretta's sacrifice was not nearly as heart wrenching as it should have been because you never really get a chance to know or love her. I also believe there could have been a hint of Darien maybe having feelings for Sinretta to cause a bit more drama.
I also felt that the ending was wrapped a little too neatly. I do love that Serena and Darien are happy, and you did a good job of describing why Serena was able to move on, but it still feels like if she loved Endymion as much as the previous story and the large majority of this story showed, there should have been SOMETHING left. A line to show that she would always love Endymion, but that she loved Darien as well, perhaps a different love that was equally strong, would have been more realistic, in my opinion.
Again, I loved this story greatly and you are an amazing author. My favourite scenes wer in the cave of lost souls with Endymion and Serena and the scene where Serena was reviving the hearts. I look forward to your next project, whether it be fanfiction or original.

MontanaSunshine 2009-09-01 . chapter 21I read Thornrose Lane ages ago. It stayed with for a long time and left me feeling sad and thoughtful. It was a great story, very well done and, even though it was almost a physical pain to watch Edymion die through your words, I had to admit that it was affective and that you were a gifted writer. I was thrilled to find out that you had decided to write a sequel. I havn't been to this site in a while so when I saw your story here and completed I got to read it all in one gulp. Thankyou! It was wonderful. I got to have my closure too from losing Endymion along with Serena (I still miss him though). You really are amazingly talented. Keep writing. I'll buy all your books! |
Matraiea 2009-08-29 . chapter 21YAY! This was WONDERFUL, Alicia, just WONDERFUL. So many twists and turns and I kept trying to figure out exactly how it would all work out... and then it did, and YAY :D
If I had a tail it would be wagging. :) Thank you for posting such an excellent sequel!! <3 You are amazing, as always. |
 Ethel 2009-08-27 . chapter 21 That was a beautiful story. |
