This was really good, but just so you know, Eddie didn't loose his foot, he lost most of the use of his leg due to the Captain shooting him there so that he would not go into the burning house. Wonderful excerpt though!

It was pretty good. i got the gist of it but you should probably go through and check the grammar and spelling. i thought that the captain shot him in the back of leg, like right below the kneecap, but.. you know.. very descriptive

I like how you descirbed the scene. I really like the book Tuesdays with Morrie. Have you read it? It's also by Mitch Albom. I'm a fan of his, I guess. I have 3 of his books :D

I can't see how your changing of the story made it any better. Eddie could never have seen there was a child-like figure in the hut, that would ruin the endding to which the book is building to. Eddie could never know there was anything in the hut, just that he thought there might be. And he wouldn't have time to feel bad about punching his friend, he was histerical. Thats why they shot his leg, so he wouldn't kill himself going into what everyone else knew was an empty building.
