A sweet ending - reminds me of the fulfilled ending of Milton's Paradise Lost, where Adam and Eve walk away hand in hand to new salvation :)

Loved this. I was so upset at the bleak ending to Tess, and though this doesn't tamper with the storyline it gives a much more hopeful ending!

Hardy was a stunning write. I agree that this is a wonderful book but very, very sad. His story really made a profound comment on the double-standards of the time.
