It's a lovely scene, but I'm a bit confused about it. Were Frodo and Merry winding Pippin up? Surely they would have known that robins live all year round? I loved the way Pippin casually helped himself to a scone. ;-)

I'd enjoy a collection of bird related snippets - had rather a lot of fun with birds in my last LOTR fic. So what about - starling?
