weixuan18 2009-04-30 . chapter 1Girl, this was brilliant. I have to say, it really struck a chord in me. Made perfect sense, portrayed in a magnificent way, and done beautifully. Extremely affected by all the emotions this oneshot showed. Very well done, one of my personal favs for sure. |
NoName 2009-04-29 . chapter 1 This...is an extremely beautiful fic. I love it so much, because, even though Tsubaki and Black Star have this sort of intense relationship -- so intense that Black Star WOULD glue himself next to her until she overcame something like this -- it seems like this is the only fic (that I've seen, anyway) that truly communicates that.
I mean, the situation you created was so powerful! Tsubaki being in a coma, which is also ironically her personal heaven, and not waking up despite the doctor's attempts...and the only way, and reason, she wakes up is for Black Star. I just can't explain how powerful an image that is. You've truly captured just how close they are.
Thank you for sharing this wonderful fic.
(Also, I agree that there needs to be more Black Star/Tsubaki love! Come on, people! They're adorable!)

FlareKnight 2009-04-29 . chapter 1Wow now this was something. You could tell how difficult this situation was for everyone involved. The uncertain situation of a coma is interesting. Unlike some other situation you can't just feel like something has been resolved. The person isn't dead, but they aren't awake and with you either.
Not surprised by how Black Star handled this whole thing. He knew from the start there was something wrong and the doctors confirmed that. Considering he just sat while getting attacked by villagers in the series while Tsubaki was dealing with her brother, his decision to sit and wait wasn't a surprise. It would have taken quite an effort to get him out of that room. Besides it's not like there was a reason to go home anyways. No point in going back to an empty place without Tsubaki there.
Good thing Soul was going to bring food since I doubt Black Star would have ever gone anywhere. I think Soul fit well since it's how he would have behaved. If the positions were reversed he probably would be doing the same as Black Star so it's impossible to criticize his actions in staying.
I liked the dream world from Tsubaki's point of view. At first it feels like a great situation, but there is that slow feeling of something being wrong. Eventually it becomes a thing that is far from a paradise. I guess one would ask why there was no fake Black Star. The answer I thought of was that she knew it wasn't real and wanted to wake up. But the only thing that could force her to wake up was having Black Star missing.
The ending was nice. Tsubaki waking up at last was a relief. You could feel what had been weighing on both of them. Good thing it was dark so she couldn't see just how relieved he was. In the end everything turned out for the best which is always something I like in stories :). You really do a great job with this pair. |
