It's been awhile for this series, huh? But this is so crisp-and so redolent of fragrances from their clothing. I wonder why it hits me thus? How we preceive smells, the wiring of it, is so primal. I notice when authors describe the fragrance, or odor, of a character, but it often evokes only a word play for me. I don't actually 'do the smelling. This bit went right to the laundry-smell part of my brain. And how you wove it together into a memory of relationship is very, very powerful. Tip 'o the hat, SeungSeiRan. This is extra-ordinary, methinks. mc

Well, not alone in that Marlene and Denzel are there and I assume there'll be interaction between the three of them-But, yeah, in another sense it is alone 'cause Tifa's not there. But if she'd stayed in with all them, there might not be much interaction 'cause he'd pull himself into the background, letting her do it for both of them. I won't ask where this might be going-if the balance is going to tip in any way-I'll wait to see where you're taking these people that I love. Oh Oh, I remember the Cinderella comparison that Marlene made. At midnight, things changed a lot for Cinderella. I had a brainstorm just now, and actually looked up the title to this set-I had assumed it was an Argentinian or Chilean word (-where in the name of confusion did I get that idea?-) but there it is, in my big dictionary. The distribution/use of light and dark. That, and this chapter, make what you are doing a bit more clear -to me-perhaps...and I'll be more patient in waiting to see how you sketch or paint this prose chiaroscuro. thx mc
