Turtleduckies 2009-07-14 . chapter 1Wow, that was just awesome! I'm so glad there's some great Ratatouille fanfic out there. I need to go write some, and this is probably going to be a bit of an inspiration...
Your grammar and spelling are impeccable, as is your description and characterization. Especially Linguini, who is absolutely perfect in all his childlike wonder. KEEP WRITING! |
 kittenkatpaw 2009-06-12 . chapter 1 Lovely! :) |
excessivelyperky 2009-06-11 . chapter 1The parallels _are_ extraordinary, aren't they? Very well done.
Now, go make Linguini and Colette and Little Chef watch UP.
And bring a dishtowel for that opening montage. Handkerchiefs won't cut it. |
Girafe13 2009-05-30 . chapter 1That was SO sweet! I know I'm a little (cough- okay, VERY) late for posting a review, but never mind. I LOVED it. Your writing is lovely. And I love the plot. It was unusual but so cute!
Anyway, see ya!

Aly Teima 2009-05-09 . chapter 1That was so SWEET!! I love your fics so much, really. And "The Iron Giant" is a work of genius, I never get tired of it. Its a shame it bombed in the theaters but now people appreciate it for how terrific it really is.
Hugs, *sigh* Awesome |
Califaction 2009-05-09 . chapter 1Aww! So cute! I never would have thought of the parallels between Iron Giant and Ratatouille. It's also a little sad, because you remind us that yeah, the Little Chef is a rat, and as such--he has a far shorter lifespan than the average human. I never really thought about that either. I always just imagined Linguini and everyone all cooking together forever in a sort of Disney time-stop. :( The scene where they hugged was so sweet and adorable (and Linguini's 'pencil neck' was so funny!). I loved all of the little details, like Linguini's peach fuzz and tickly curls of hair and the clavicle-learned-from-Collete's-library, and especially, "Ti amo, mio piccino." Total "Aww" moment, and it was made better by Linguini's flustered almost-filibuster. The way you highlight all of their differences through the Iron Giant movie, "No common language, size difference, culture difference, man, he doesn't even know his name" and demonstrate how they aren't so important, after all--it's pretty awesome, and I think it really captures what the movie is all about.
Thanks for writing and posting! |
Colette Tatou 2009-05-07 . chapter 1Gotta say, right off the bat: I love it whenever you have Linguini speak in Italian. I know I've said it a hundred times. It's probably just because I'm a sucker for it, but it makes him even more adorable, if that's possible. And it is. You make it so.
Anyway. Loved this. My sister and I are both huge Brad Bird fans. While we're on the subject, I must say, the character of Dean in The Iron Giant is hot. :D It would have been funny if Colette were watching and made a comment about him... Though it's been such a long time since I've written her, I'm not sure that'd be in character.
Back to the point though! The way you wrote Remy's reactions and emotions is so beautiful, and so him.
The hugging was really sweet and heartfelt.
Oh, and a comment: I realized that between your Colette and mine, she's got Chronicles of Narnia, Sappho, and books on anatomy. Yes, quite a library! |
 Leviathan0999 2009-05-07 . chapter 1Oh, man...
The heartbreaking moment in which the Giant learns about mortality was already powerful enough. To bring it to these two goofy boys, so different, so much the same, and use it to reinforce teh power of their friendship and love? Sledge-hammer-time, baby. POW! Right in the heart!
Thank you for this... And I'd love to see the look they exchange at the end, when the Giant remembers Hogarth's words, "You are what you choose to be," and happily croons, "Su-per-man!" |
