Exactly. And that's the root cause of a lot of the friction between the boys in the next season and beyond!

I really liked this - how you took us back to Dean's season 3 recklessness and showed that Sam could worry about his brother too.

Dean really needs to listen to Sam on this one. Don't split up cause that never ends well.

Loved that Dean got mad when he thought the demon messed with his car.

this is a really great story so far. i love the way you're building suspense with the plot. i'm thinking, "what the heck is going on?" and that's totally a good thing.

as always, i think you write sam and dean so well. the way they argue about who gets to take care of whom and who gets to go "kamikaze" is so emotionally powerful-and so very sam and dean.

and i especially love the little dean moments. "on my car?" dean and his baby... :) and my favorite: "cuz we're so awesome?" that's one of my favorite dean lines ever, and when i read it in your story, i visualized him saying it with that adorable, mischievous little grin. haha, and sam's look was "distinctly un-amused." so very sam and so very easy to imagine. again, you write them so well. keep up the great work!

How evil, you still haven't told us what word Sam uttered! Nice background as to what happened earlier that week, a hunt where both boys felt uneasy, that they were being watched, and Sam thinking it was a demon. Great conversation between them but just why is Dean uncomfortable about Sam letting him know how important he is to him, being brothers is a two way thing, you can't just switch it off?

I'm totally with Dean! You don't mess with the Impala! *hmph* ;)

There is such wonderful irony in that sentence, considering what happened.

"He immediately got a flash of holding his brother’s lifeless body on an abandoned street in Cold Oak. He still woke up from nightmares of that time covered in a cold sweat and the effect of the memory now was no less severe."

I love this thought. I've seen many stories talk about Sam's memories of Dean's death, but not many talk about Dean's memories of Sam's.

And this is such a great line. It's so simple, but it sums up Dean's character perfectly.

Just checked this story out, and this is deep. I don't think that anyone has made Sam decide something like this before. None that i've read anyway.

I hope he answered Dean. Anything else would be criminal. After all, Dean is mother and father and best friend to him. I suppose it would be a hard choice, but i think at this point, that's the only choice available to him.

Can't wait for the new season to start!

This is good, but with reasonable arguments, if I were Sam, I'd still pick Dean.

Beause, Mary would ask questions, like "Where's John and Dean?", and the Demon could just go off and kill her again.

John would start nagging about Sam not saving Dean when he had the choice and he'd go hunting around, leaving Sam alone again.

Jessica wouldn't understand Sam's powers and would possibly blame Sam for not saving her when he had already had visions of her death beforehand, with normal life, he wouldn't be able o save the people that die in his visions.

Dean's always been there, saved his life milion times, understands the visions anfd doesn't think he's a freak. They could go hunting together and Dean would just go off by himself like John.

I hope you update this really, really soon.

Another good story. Is there going to be more or is it a fill in the blank on who you want it to be? If that is the case I say he picks Dean because Dean has been all those things listed at the end to Sam and more.

i like this. it's a good note of suspense to end it on. i like to think he picked dean because dean was all of those things (minus lover, duh). jess...if she did know, who's to say she wouldn't think sam as a freak? 'cause she probably would. anyway this was really well done. the back story is just the right amount of vauge to keep it going. good job! write on!
