Wow... This was subtle, poetic, and intense. It captured both the music and the emotion of the show, which is really hard to recreate in text. Fantastic job! I'm really glad you are writing for this under-appreciated fandom! You capture the sense of David's recklessness here, and in your other story (about his marriage) you capture the other half of the story: his loyalty and surprising ability to commit, to take the rough with the smooth. He's a complicated guy, and of course Maddie's a complicated lady, more damaged than we usually recognize, as this story does a great job of pointing out.
