2009-11-12 . chapter 9
So I might be borrowing semi-harmless!Trigon for a bit. Just a head's up.

You've got to hand it to Marie, she's certainly able to track down the silver lining. Maybe it's a mom thing.

Slade's biggest problem is that he can't recognize the important difference between "obedience" and "loyalty," which is actually kind of ironic now that I think about it. His problem is further compounded by his inability to properly punish his pet jinn without losing at least one of his wishes, so he can't command through terror either. Legalistic!Jinx might very well be the death of him.

A little recon goes a long way, Rae. How what she's learned will help as anything other than a delaying tactic is... uncertain, but every little bit.

And so we have the first appearance of Marie Logan... you'd told me some things about her, and she sounded great, but after reading this, I honestly think I'm a little in love with the woman. I love how you let us see her mind working... she's clearly brilliant, and able to manipulate many things in her head at once (super-science, Gar's future, potential girlfriends for Gar, etc.) Also, I love how composed she is when she hears the news from Vic. She understands she's in no position currently to influence things, so she's going to keep herself under control. I can't wait to see more of her, and Mark Logan as well (he has to be something special to be with a lady like her.)

I was kinda there with you when the scene with Slade came together, and I have to say it exceeds all expectations. You get a sense of how hard Jinx is working to keep Slade from getting exactly what he wants from her. Working with a Genie is a very subtle thing, and she's doing her best to make sure he doesn't quite get the knack. If he does figure it out, well the little hints you give about his nature clue us in to how bad this could be.

This is a short chap, but it's just enough to remind me just how engrossing this story is. I get the feeling the next chap gets back to the trio, and I'm anxiously awaiting that, to say the least.

CONGRATULATIONS ON MED SCHOOL! That is so great.

Now on to my review.

I enjoyed meeting Gar's parents.Although for some reason I pictured his Mom being the one to stress out a bit more than his dad. And the idea that they were friends with Victor's parents before the accident is plausible and a great way to explain the relationship background between the two boys.

Jinx. Love her. She's playing by the rules but all the while thinking of a way to get around them.Crafty girl. I like that she doesn't mince words with Slade. She lets him know whats what. Question, is her being a fire-demon a seperate ability from her being a djinn or do they go hand in hand?

And Slade is an evil bastard. And yet the more I read of him in different incarnations the more I like his bastardness.

I know I said I was doing NaNo but I think I have to decline that. My home situation hasn't gotten better and it probably won't till December. And even though I have stories in my head and scribbled in dozens of notebooks I have no time nor are any of them anywhere near 50,0 words.Blah, sorry to steal your review time.

whoa... I have NO idea what's going on now...

okay, so Jinx admits how she has no chance of killing Trigon as-is, nor with her full power since 1; Trigon would crush her the moment he can and 2; she's not sure she can anyway (i pick up on things, have you noticed?). so now Slade has made his second wish... right? that was a wish, right... nope. darn, he is one despicable bastard. PWNing the Brotherhood of Evil while manipulating a genie into doing everything he says (nonpervertedly, at that) without making more than one wish, making the threat of killing one of the "hostages"...

Slade needs to die before the end of this, I swear. either that, or become a powerless genie (doth I sense foreshadowing in this chapter? hmm...). so, looks like Raven picked up on a conversation better left unheard; who knows what she now believes about their "ally" on the outside? something tells me this won't end well...

so, just where is Jinx going first? how do Marie and Mark fit into the equation (you must have some reason for mentioning them...?)? Can... what's-his-face, Greyson(?) and Logan beat a half-cocked Slade? Ah, but wait; like two chapters or so ago, Greyson sent out a signal to Wayne, right? will the Bat be making an appearance?!

... too much?

Nice chapter. I enjoyed the part with the Logans. It's always to see the parents of characters since it often helps define who they are. As for the part with Jinx and Slade, I enjoyed that too. I'm curious to find out what happens next.

Oh my. Well done. It’s nice to see Victor in the spotlight- he gets it so little. Jinx is great in this as well. The Logans are a nice touch- a stable home life in nice for Gar. I'm really enjoying this- glad to see Raven has a backbone. I am waiting for an explanations\ as to why Trigon hasn't gone all "destroyer of worlds" yet. I need something more than it was inconvenient. Everyone ones in character, good blend of comic and cartoon. The dialoged does seem a bit more stilted than you usually write. The only place it was really noticeable was Gar meeting Raven. They seemed to fall into casual conversation too easily and Gar felt a touch flat. it could have been anyone talking. Overall great story, can't wait for the next chapter!

Your an excellent writer i must say. And most definitely one of the best teen titan writers out there that I've seen. The characters are well written and *gasp* in character! Yes! I wonder if you like the number nine... maybe... Maybe not who knows...you do but argh meh never mind imma go sleep or something...Yeah this is a rant now...later.

2009-09-01 . chapter 8
Okay, we've already discussed much of what's in here at some length, but here are a few things that still stuck out to me...

Trigon- Even with his powers pretty much on the fritz, he still projects an air of authority, just as I expect a man/demon like him would. You could tell the anger was there, but you could tell it was also being tightly controlled by an iron will. He seems to have some degree of trust in Victor, but you can tell he wary. This is pretty much exactly how I'd imagine a "good" Trigon to be.

Kore- There really is no in-between with this girl. She trusts Vic now, and you'd almost think they'd been friends for years with as warm as she was to him. By the same token, I get the feeling that when she fights, she doesn't hold a lot back, very true to her Tamaranean heritage. We've seen the cute and adoreable Kore, now I'm really wanting to see the other side of that coin.

Rouge- Nasty, that's all I can say. I did notice that she said the HIVE went down nine years in the past... Jinx has been a Genie nine years... hm...

Gar, Richard, and Raven- I think Richard and Raven are both used to being the smartest person in the room, and not used to being disagreed with, so a clash of willd was probably inevitable. Garfied, however seems much more of a practical, adaptable person, which is why he did such a good job of taking a mediator role here. And really, all the various versions of BB I've seen in different media share that sort of easy-going charm, so this felt very right for the character. All he needs is the chance to crack off a few more bad jokes. (Good job with the jacket too... it's never too early for Gar to start scoring points with the cutie.)

All in all, this continues to be excellently done. It's got the fast-moving style and detailed, lively characters I've come to love from all your works, and a fairly intricate but not confusing plot. This story is a great return to fic, and I can't wait for more!

Good chapter. I sense that Jinx is connected to HIVE in some way. It fell nine years ago, she's only been a genie for nine years. I suppose we'll find out eventually.

I like how Gar was both playing as a mediator between Raven and Richard as well as how he was thinking of Raven when he threw her the jacket. That was a nice touch. I'm enjoying Gar's character in this.

Victor seems to be working rather well with Trigon and Kore. I'm looking forwards to learning more about the prophecy and the half demon binding they were discussing.

Anyway, good job on this chapter! I can't wait for the next update.

I once again restate my assertion that your nice!Trigon is one of my favorite iterations of the character. Just sayin'.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the nine years of H.I.V.E.lessness and the nine years of jinx's genie-tude are not completely unrelated. That, or you have an unexplained attachment to the number nine. In the former case, at least, I don't expect that the transition from student to spirit was a particularly fun one. Or maybe it was, what do I know?

Cyborg's dealings with Trigon seemed... a little /too/ successful. Trigon himself doesn't seem to be all that trusting a guy, and considering that it was Victor's genie that was aiding Slade in his daughter's kidnapping... well, perhaps he has some yet-unhindered methods to verify Cyborg's non-complicity here, but from where I stand it's still completely possible for Vic and Gar to be Slade's co-conspirators. I might be a little paranoid, though.

Made my sucky week better. That is all.

No, wait I have an actual review. So Jinx has only been a jinn for 9 years, yes? Right along the same time the Hive went down? Hm...sounds fishy to me. Any chance those two incidents are connected? And how exactly does one become a genie?

And Victor was great. He held his own with Trigon and Kore and came out unscathed so far. And I like that he told the truth about how he managed to score his interview and what little he knew about the two.I'm thinking it may end up working in his favor. And how nicely this little trio works together; no posturing or anything like that. Just lay out the facts and plan.

Old prophecies? Interesting. The dangers of binding a half-demon? More interesting.

Madame Rouge should quit while she is ahead. I sincerely doubt she would be able to avoid loopholes with Jinx and while it would be funny Jinx may not be happy by then.

Gar playing mediator? Nice. I like that he's a little toned down here, not so much pomp and noise, but more brains. I also like that he took the time to make sure Raven was comfortable.

Also I don't think Jinx will be pleased to know he thinks she's a bit of gossip, nor that Richard pretty much ruled her out of the equation.

Richard wasn't too bad once he got over his initial display of knowing what's right and telling everyone.I like that he was willing to ignore Raven's heritage and keep it moving.

Very good chapter, and congrats on all your school related stuff.I'd say more but I'm at work and yeah...not supposed to be reading fic here.

This story is vastly interesting, enough to merit watching it. Which would make it the forth story in this fandom I have become interested in, and you have written two of them. The way the entire story is set up is wonderful, and I have no doubt that it will be full of twists.
