Yay update! Great chapter. I'm really loving this "re-make" of 'The Devil's Trill'. The additional detail is awesome. Can't wait to read more.

Oh come on you've left me in suspense for too long please please please add to it. I love both the books and the tv show and I think they go well together I wish more could be written by others because I can't really come up with anything interesting. and by the way I'd like to see how Niko gets out of this one because he is fast and a sensational fighter but Sam and Dean are trained hunters sice childhood and great shots but I look forward to them being introduced please don't keep me in suspense

What an awesome start! The balance of mystery and suspense with super sweet flashbacks is perfect-really, really perfect. I can't wait to read the next chapter, especially if it has flashbacks like this.

Ah, but, because I hate when I make a mistake in writing and don't notice it, I'm going to point out two tiny things. One, even with Niko training, running two miles to a store, buying something from a store, and running two miles home is pretty impossible to do in fifteen minutes. The only way Cal could do it is if he ran four three-minute miles and spent three minutes in the store, and that would be like...insane. Maybe you were implying by Niko's time limit that he would have to come after Cal, though. Also, in the second flashback, you say that Niko is nine, and then refer to him as an eight year old. Neither of those things are probably noticeable if you haven't been editing things like I have, but I thought I would mention it.

But again, I loved this chapter, and am eagerly awaiting the next one!

I have to share my amusement that you created a vampire named Gabriel when I've done the same thing (mine was for a role-playing game, but still - I'm entertaining the thought of writing him into a story).

I really like the flashbacks. God, it was nice to see Niko call Cal 'kiddo', and Cal's reaction! Ugh, I love brotherly moments. xD

And I can't help but think that that gun belongs to our very own Dean Winchester.

Yes! I was hoping you would do something else with Cal Leandros and Gordan. He has to be my favorite bad guy out of the whole series. Ah, I'm so looking forward to the next chapters (not looking forward to the wait, but meh, what can you do? I'll just go back and read The Devil's Trill and just be even more excited when you update).
