Although sad and still very much in the spirit of 1984, well at least this time (and if it was your intention) Winston dies well and shows that even though it is very small, there is still some hope for humanity.

Haha, you make me much more satisfied! The Party doesn't win, two plus two makes four, and Winston sees truth before he dies, completely messing up the Party and O'Brien at the same time! >:D

I finished 1984 and was lost and upset because Winston fell to the Party's way of thinking. And this, this made me happier. :)

The children! I had never thought to consider the children! This is wonderful because it's totally plausible. It would take something like that to tug at Winston's emotions, to bring him back just a little bit. Enough to remember to hate them in the end, to die a heretic. It's beautiful, really.

I like this a lot! It continues perfectly from the end of the book, and I really like the ending - very fitting.

Wow! I really like this alternate ending... very bleak, but in an Orwellian way.
