It made my heart ache, Sirius' realization that his friends could hurt him more deeply than anything else, but that it could also make him more happy than anything else.

Excellent artistry, as usual. One thing I appreciate about your style that I noticed in this piece: the way you move from scene to scene creates a “movie-camera- lends” effect, you drop the reader into one scene, then another, without obvious summarization or “filler.” Also, a related side note: I like your pacing choices here. You take your time and develop the action.

You and Bratanimus both employ a sort of musing quality in your pieces that I like: contemplative without losing us or leaving us behind. You paint the characters in a way that, for the most part, really “takes us along for the ride,” even when the pace of the moment in question is slow and quiet). There was a little of that in this piece, but that’s more of s general comment.

Well done, as usual. I know that reviews like this are not exactly helpful (and I apologize for that!) but I hope that they are, at least, encouraging. Writers need that, too.
