What a little gem of a story! A delicious, satisfying read, with the truely hard edge lacking from original HP canon.

Whoa, that was an intense story. Very intriguing to read.

I think coming into the possession of the family grimoire wouldn't have changed a 13-year-old Harry to think and act so maturely, but overall the changes you made to the canon storyline were very interesting to read, completely new twists that I've never read before. Harry is so much more ruthless in your story, and it's very gratifying to see him be effective.

The shopkeeper was another interesting element of the story. I liked how he was motivated to do good, yet he was also 'evil' to some extent. It was a great touch to have him remember and yet forget; it makes his character realistic in that even though Harry's story is significant to the reader, it is not necessarily significant to the shopkeeper to whom it was just one manifest entry.
