What a terrific plot, weel timed and thought out for the 2009 movie. Nice action, angst, and a bit of science thrown in, although I don't know if it was therotically acurate or not, but it was still fun and so Trek. Good luck with publishing. I think you've got a fine story, although I think you'd have to cut it down abit. I don't know what your word count is, but you're up there.
Let us know how that goes.
Thanks for a fun read.

Great build-up here! Poor Spocko!

> “I just can’t imagine a future where Vulcans are little more than a display in a museum next to the ivory billed woodpecker, and the humpback whale.”

Aw, this got me!

> “I may burn out a few dozen circuits, and ruin a coolant system or two along the way, Captain, but I believe I can.”

You go, Scotty!

> “Jim...perhaps now would be a good time for me to teach you the answers to the questions my son may have.”

Argh! Heartbreak!

> “She did, that does not make my actions right.”

Oh, Spock!

He is just too good.

> “Trust me, the Captain would never allow it.”

Yay for Christine's faith in the Captain! Loved this.

> “She’s got an ounce of sense in her head.”

Go, Saavik! You rock 'em, girl!

As you can guess, I'm having a lot of fun. Thanks for posting.

> Once again Kirk was missing Spock's help, he was sure the Vulcan would clearly see a logical answer to all of this.

I liked Kirk missing how much Spock adds to their missions. And I just loved Uhura using her abilities to spot the fake message!

> “Captain, no!” Spock cried in terror. “No, don't let them take me! Please!”

Gah, this broke my heart! Spock never begs! *whimper*

> “The angles, here, here, and here” Spock pointed out several spaces on the protrusions from the knife's handle “add up to 88 degrees, not 90. Also the material appears to be ultra-steel and not the traditional anarainite, which is not as blue.”

Whee! The geek in me just loved this bit!

Ooh, very sinister and gripping! I liked this nice way of showing how Spock was losing control:

> When Spock took an illegal swipe at his face Sulu automatically jerked back even though the blade couldn't do any damage.
