TragedyStorm 2009-09-05 . chapter 1<3 Loved this. I think I've become obsessed with PW stories now. Something about Miles and Phoenix, ya know? =) Anyway, this was beautiful. I'm adding it to my favorites, and into my fic library =D |
trichromatic life 2009-08-12 . chapter 1very awesome one-shot, indeed. I've read several rape-recovery fics before (and several fics dealing with the topic in general), but none of them were quite as eloquent as this one was. It channeled through to the reader all the raw emotion that was felt - both by Wright and Edgeworth - and I, for one, felt as though I was in the story, as well, instead of just sitting behind my screen reading it.
The flow of the story went EXTREMELY well, too; none of the parts seemed rushed at all, which I greatly appreciated. (Too many writers, it seems, have problems with pacing; they either rush matters, or they do the Charles Dickens thing and drag them out too long. Not to go on a tangent or anything, but in one of Dickens' novels [can't remember the title right off the bat], he took four pages to describe opening a damned DOOR. I mean... c'mon. Was it really neccessary?) This one, though, was quite nicely paced.
And, though this sort of ties in to the "raw emotion" thing, it was so beautiful how you characterized everyone. I mean... the characters were really brought to life. They weren't just 2D, print-on-a-screen characters. They had feelings; they had life. And it's DAMNED hard to do that. The writer has to feel the feelings himself (... fine, to be PC about it - or HERself... *hates PCness and usually just uses the masculine gender because it is, after all, the grammatically correct way*). It's the writer who breathes life into the characters and makes them more than just print-on-a-screen. They were definitely more than just video game characters; you did an excellent job of portraying them as real-life individuals with real-life screwed up problems. And that's brilliant. Because life does suck, and we all need people that we can look to as an example in case the same crap happens to us. (Not that I'm trying to infer that anyone will get raped soon or anything, but... you know what I mean.)
GAH, I just realized that this review is lasting for forever. >.< I BE TRULY SORRY. *is truly sorry*
Anywho, you did a splendid job, really, and I added it to my favorites. ^.^ |
