TheNegotiatorGK85 2009-11-26 . chapter 46I haven't read this story in a while. But of course I will say once again that it was amazing. If I had just been given a quick biography on each character, I would have found none of them to be interesting except for Charon. But you turned the entire cast into an amazing group of people.
Great job with this. I'll definitely be reading more of what you write. |
Incarn 2009-11-24 . chapter 1This's the first time for me to review one of your stories; kinda hate myself for being too lazy to do so on your other fics. I love them all.
Firstly - omfgwtfbbq. This, by far, is my most favorite portrayal of Charon in the Fallout universe. You threw in the just-right amount of emotionless, crazy, brainwashed, sixth-sense epic win to make a completely unique and enjoyable take on our favorite trigger-happy Ghoul.
Secondly - As usual, you don't fail to be unique in the original characters, either. An alien-human hybrid raised by robots, the robots themselves - just awesome.
Thirdly - Your plot! I've always loved how you write in your own style and how your plot unfurls in a completely uncomplicated and simple way that I love. I read in your author's notes somewhere that you never really planned out your fics on a whole, just based them on one scene; this really seems to work for you. Sure, I love myself some in depth stuff, but your stories have always been a refreshing change from the flowery writing of most other authors.
uh. All in all, that's all I have to say. I'mma crawl back to Birth Signs now. xD |
Alpha of Omega 2009-11-12 . chapter 2Oh my god... You are incredibally detailed in your story. Even though I'm only on the third chapter, it's excellent. |
Teutonic Titwillow 2009-11-10 . chapter 46Sorry for the belated review. Real life (and Dragon Age) has been interfering with my fanfic habit again, I'm afraid. Very inconsiderate of it.
Your direct referral to Xan's not-quite-a-crush on Charon came as something of a surprise, although I suppose it inevitably had to be addressed if they were going to be in a confined space together. Besides which, I remember being Xen's age, and I only wish I'd had the wisdom to realize how inappropriate MY little crushes were and to act accordingly. I also realize how easy it would be to form them, when you're so young and your experience is so limited.
No huge surprise that they've made it back to the Lab and seem ready to stay there for the duration. Xen, I'm noticing, is still the same person that left the lab, but she's a more introspective and thoughtful version of herself. Xen 2.0, if you like. :D
Now, I wonder if this group and Thistle's will ever intersect, or if they'll stay in their respective holes. Alternatively, I still wonder if Xen may venture out, or may form some kind of collaborative connection with the scientists at Rivet City or at Project Purity. She could do a lot to better the Wasteland, with her brain - and, even with her ego, she doesn't appear to have entirely realized that. Or rather, she has, but she hasn't found a way to reconcile that with the risk of discovery.
Anyway, moving on over to the Oblivion section, because I'm curious to see what kind of off-kilter cast of characters you've dreamed up for your next story. ;) |
Cheryl- tallera257@hotmail.com 2009-11-02 . chapter 46 *happy sigh* Aw, Bunni and Tori are just the same! Thats simultaneously endearing and frustrating, just as Xen seemed to feel. You were very subtle but accurate about portraying that feeling of mild letdown at coming home from an adventure. It's nice to feel like you're in familiar territory again, but at the same time it's hard to come back to where everyone else is the same, and you've had experiences which altered your perceptions of them. It's easy to expect everyone around you to be different, too, and also feel a bit let down by the fact that they AREN'T. Well done. My "Scouring of the Shire" comment notwithstanding, the feeling I got from this last chapter was very equivalent to Sam sighing, "Well, I'm back." ;)
I admit to some similar feelings...I'm not ready for this story to be over yet! But I understand why you ended it here, and you ended it well. Charon is, as always, Charon; Bell is well-adjusted but still personable and fun. And Xen is back in her element: surrounded by adoring servants whom she can order around. ;) I say that MOSTLY in fun, but it gave me a mild bit of uncomfortableness (*ahem*, sorry, Firefly campaign this weekend...I meant "discomfort") when Bunni and Tori immediately started asking if there was anything they could do for her. I hope in the white after-story space, Xen will demonstrate to them that she's well able to take care of herself with only a little help, and that she needs their friendship and security much more than she needs their service. Maybe that's me expecting too much of an undersized xeno-organic hybrid, but I'd be a bit disappointed in her if she just reverts right back to her original semi-arrogant self.
I will miss getting updates for this story in my inbox, but as always, I'll look forward to whatever stories and characters you can come up with. Thanks for the ride! :D |
uo-chou 2009-11-01 . chapter 46Excellent story, it was very good. I was somewhat disappointed at the ending though, unless you plan to follow with a sequel. I was hoping for a grand character-changing revelation at the end resulting in Xen's psychological metamorphosis from child to adult. The whole, coming home but being changed thing. |
auPHE 2009-10-31 . chapter 46I'm growing really attached to your TFtW series... I hope you decide to continue it. And if you do, may I say that I'd really like to see an adult "Squire" Maxson (the only kid in the BoS) appear in it? xD I was replaying FO3 today and ran into him, and I totally want to see someone write more about the kid! I mean, he can't be normal, what with growing up in what is, essentially, a militia group. |
Kimmae 2009-10-31 . chapter 46Bravo! Overall, I compliment your simple yet intelligent voice throughout the story; everything is to the point, but you still had all that fancy-schmancy science lingo and technological input/output error stuff (which I won't even begin to pretend I know anything about). While some chapters seemed to branch off into sub-plots etc. and suddenly die, I found it quite fitting rom time to time (the narrator's voice being as flat as a robot's, just like Xen likes it). But most importantly, you've made Xen my new favourite hybrid alien heroine ever; you took her off the page and made her a pale green, loveable girl in those cute little goggles. I'll be waiting around for more stories! Thanks, Sickle. |
kyanrato 2009-10-31 . chapter 46 Wow, I read the entire story in 2 days :D
I really liked the story, I would buy it if it was an actual novel! And I'm very impressed with your knowledge of science...or chemistry? Hm...
I felt so glad that Xen actually got back home, I thought her place would be totally destroyed or something. Whew-but anyways, I loved it!
Hope you write another FO3 story soon! :D |
 Peanuckle 2009-10-31 . chapter 46Wah! it's over!
This was a fantastic story, full of detail and adventure, minimizing with fluff and fill-in. I appreciate the work you put in to make it enjoyable to all us readers. I understand that you've gotten tired with Fallout, especially after such a long story! Go ahead and pat yourself on the back for a job well done. |
Castalia Moirae 2009-10-31 . chapter 46Whoa, it's over? That was sudden. There was so much more to learn! Oh well, you're the author :p |
Setrus 2009-10-31 . chapter 46I love you and want to have your children.
Good enough of a review? ;-)
Just wanted to say I've really appreciated this read, it gives one something to aim for. |
Anzer'ke 2009-10-31 . chapter 46Oh I am grabbable whenever you get round to writing something again
As long as you mean a literary rather than a jujutsu grab, those hurt. XD
The reason is simply that both of your stories that I have read are truly incredible, it may give you some tiny happiness to now that you are now close to the top of this poor, untalented fool's list of people to steal brains from. Looking forward to the next bit of activity from you.
Peace out and Rock on,
Anzer'ke. |
Kikaikami 2009-10-31 . chapter 46Ach logged into the wrong account. Oh well. This is Kikaimegami. You probably already knew that.
I really don't know where to start with a crit or anything for this story (for one because it's so bloody long!), but I CAN tell you that I absolutely loved it and now that it's finished, I plan on rereading it. I love the characterization you've done, especially fitting Charon in how you'd think he would be. I loved your portrayal of him.
I'm also a big fan of Xen and hope you write another story about her later. Please?
I'm sad this one is done, though! Don't go back to Oblivion yet! Write more here! |
 StoppingMotors 2009-10-31 . chapter 46 Great ending! |
