I'm generally not a fan of self inserts, which is what this had the feel of, and also not particularly a fan of first person. That being said, it was interesting enough to read to the end and I'll certainly give the next in the series a look.

Quite good, although at some points the flow became a bit thick like in the fights against the Mishima forces.

The fact that the main character is your original character probably scared off many readers. Still, I liked Jeff. His power lever was just right to fit with everyone else and his interactions with everyone were very interesting. I liked that he rarely passed judgement and that he stood up to Nabiki.

Hi. I've never placed a review here before (mainly because I've never been a big poster of reviews,) bt this has to be one of my favorite stories on this site. Most of that probably has to do with nostalgia (I've always been a sucker for nostalgia. Heh.)

It's kinda funny really, but way back when I was 12 or so, maybe older (I kinda forgot,) my parents got me and my brothers an SNES, with one game for each of us. My youngest brother got a bizarre little fighting game; there were only three or so button combinations which activated every characters' three or so special moves, and two or three characters were capable of a double jump maneuver. After the novelty of the game wore out and I played some of the other fighter games available, I realized that Ranma 1/2: Hard Battle was actually a pretty bad game. (I still had no idea what Ranma was at the time) One of the characters interested me, though I never quite figured out why. Sad to say it was Mousse. Feh.

Anyway, not too long after that I got into watching Dragonball Z, and looking up information on it because I wanted to know what the heck I was watching. From there I found fanfiction. I've never been able to leave it alone since.

A fairly good fanfic site pointed me to this glorius depository (or so I saw it at the time; the place has really gone downhill over the years though.) My first story happened to be this one. Heh. I didnt know what Ranma 1/2 was at the time, but I was on a superhero kick, so once I realized it was about a superhero I was hooked. I spent years trying to find the source mater Jeff 'Tach' Anderson, though I never did (& realize now that unless Ghost/Philip decides to release more than just "Chosen Path," "My Universe and Welcome To It," and "Choices Made, Roads Taken," I probably never will.) When I found out what Ranma was, I decided to take that as a consolation prize & try to get as much as I could.

Several years later, I'm nineteen, and I've still only managed to get the Americanized Vol.s 1 & 2 of the manga, lost the entire DVD collection of Season One of the Anime somewhere in my parents' house, & read enough fanfic (both good & bad,) that except for a huge number of side adventures, I pretty much know the whole series anyhow. Feh. I still like to look back on this and wonder though. Again, feh.

Yea! Loved every word of it. I always enjoy different poitns of view in fanfiction. As a RPGer, I know how characters can get stuck in your head, and Anderson fit in very nicely. He's a very believable character! Great job!

I may be the only one on this net who knows the characters NOT of Ranma 1/2 or other... My exposure to anime is limited to Project AKo, BubbleGum Crisis, and Vampire Hunter D. Let me sya that Tach lives and breathes to me, exactly as I recall him. (I'd also like to say that I hope when Jeff says he'll never forgive me for faking my death in his building, he means he MAY never forgive me... What can I say, it was a rush job and there were reasons for it.) Tach was always the sort to think his problems through rather than pummel them and hope they'd go away. I never had much exposure to Warren's creative side (Aside from a real interesting "afterlife" story which I hope he'll share someday), but I have to say that based on what I have read here, Warren would make a better than average writer for comics. At least you could count on the story being interesting and not a simple slugfest.

An excellent example of how to do a good crossover story.

The Ranma cast are all represented quite well; none of the fiances are discriminated against, as they usually are in Ranma fanfiction. Ranma is shown in a positive light in general, but his weaknesses are present as well. Chaos seeps through the cracks, as it should around Furinkan.

The main character (Jeff Anderson) is powerful enough to survive in Nerima, without being overly so. Sympathetic to Ranma's position, without going out of his way to try to solve all the impossible problems. Being an American, mention is made of the speech issues involved, cultural observations, etc.. without detracting from the flow of the story. Little things like commentary on the food go a long way to flesh out Jeff's experience.
