viennacantabile 2009-07-23 . chapter 1gah. this is so sad, how could you kill maria off? sniff. anyway, i think you write both a-rab and anybodys very well, and the story is really well done - reasonable and believable. reminds me a bit of the a-rab/baby john scene after the rumble, which i like. great lines:
She wanted to cry, ached to release the tears, but she felt as if she would die if she sat still for a moment too long. She ran out of breath, could feel her blood rushing through her body and begging her to pause. She dropped down a final ladder and stumbled to a stoop, dropping down onto it and gasping, shuddering.
“I feel like I can’t breathe,” she whispered.
He had to keep cool. But how the hell was he expected to keep cool when she made him feel as if he were on fire?
the stars still dim with Maria’s death.
They weren’t like Tony and Maria had been, needing to be around each other as much as possible.
i also love how you differentiate them from tony and maria; it's a really nice touch. and thank you for knowing how to spell, btw. :D i just - i feel like you *get* these two, and that's so fantastic. heart! |
BSparrow 2009-07-02 . chapter 1I really REALLY like this. You're a great writer, you handled all the emotions very well. I was surprised at how strongly A-Rab felt about Maria but it makes sense. Great job! |
Jac Danvers 2009-06-20 . chapter 1This story was lovely! The emotions were beautifully done. I've never really seen this pairing done before, but you did a great job. And I can't believe Maria died! Great job and fantastic story! |
SheWhoDreamsByDarkness-x 2009-06-19 . chapter 1I agree completely - we need more West Side Story fics, and in particular, more Anybodys/A-Rab! I loved your story - it showed a sensitive side to both characters and portrayed it in a realistic light. |
Megfly 2009-06-17 . chapter 1Aw, I saw a story alert from you in my inbox and I cheered. There may have been a tear or two. Ok, not really, but the sentiment remains the same.
Plus, it was a West Side Story story and that is even more happy-making to me and my musical loving self :)
Anyhoo, this was another lovely piece. It captured the emotion nicely and felt very real and honest - two lost souls coming together when they need to, but without any of the mushy nonsense (well...we all know I love the mushy nonsense, but I love weird little quirky relationships like the one you've written here just as much). Plus, I've always loved Anybody's as a character ever since I saw this one actress play her on stage and absolutely ROCK the part - the perfect mix of tough tomboy and vulnerable teenage girl. So yay!
In short, one-shots like this make me full of glee. Indeed! |
hippogriff-tamer 2009-06-17 . chapter 1Wow, you are truly an amazing writer LC...it was great that they got to be in their own little bubble at least for a short time where everything was quiet and perfect...I think we all could use that from time to time esp. with how the world is these days... |
