anon 2009-12-05 . chapter 1 This story was just so perfectly written, everything coming together during the course of the tale but cinched so perfectly at the end that I found myself whispering, "Oh, my God!" at the moment of revelation. Which was, perfectly, the last sentence.

ROBINV 2009-06-19 . chapter 1This is creepy. Seriously! To think that Mary knew her son's fate on the day he was born, and from a peculiar midwife who abruptly appears and disappears!
All that spinning and oatmeal-eating--very weird! But as a former hunter, Mary would have wanted to do the best by her baby.

Athena dancing 2009-06-17 . chapter 1Hi :) that was disturbing and lovely. Whenever I watch scenes with Mary, I wonder how much she knew or if she ever did anything to, I don't know, counteract? the deal she made with YED. Kripke should take notes & make this canon. :) |
primadonna cat 2009-06-17 . chapter 1I've often wondered how much Mary knew what she was "selling" to Azazel in 1973. What ever she knew, I also always thought she put protection or perhaps a promise on Dean. So your story really brought that to life! Cool weving of the fates within the story. Very clever. :) |
Rebel Goddess 2009-06-17 . chapter 1I like the way that you had me guessing as to what bit of folklore the stick and the spinning wheel related to. LOL at Mary's mum being like one of John's marine buddies more than anything else. Had to grin at the "defusing a bomb" line too. I imagine that would feel more natural to her. I was a little confused until I googled Nornegrauten. I think my only negative comment would be that you've chosen such an obscure piece of mythology to use that it will pass by most people in terms of significance. I knew wyrd was fate, but I couldn't have explained Nornegrauten. Anyway, enjoyable but could do with a coda from Mary's perspective. Good story. |

historylover 2009-06-17 . chapter 1Well, I liked it. I hope you don't get any upsetting reviews, because I would hate for you to delete it.
I thought it was interesting. And I can completely see Mary taking every precaution with Dean's birth.
Thanks for sharing.

Aesculap 2009-06-17 . chapter 1Interesting story... Although Mary's behaviours seems a bit weird in parts I can track where she's coming from. Why did she take Norse mythology? And did she take similar precautions when pregnant with Sam? |
Ani-maniac494 2009-06-16 . chapter 1I really enjoyed this. I'm not sure I understood everything that happened, but that worked because I could sympathize with John very easily. I loved that, somehow, you get the feeling Mary was weaving Dean's destiny.
I especially loved this line:
"He thought of checking through the house to make sure the disturbing old lady really had left and hadn't taken the TV, but knew he had the most important things in the entire world in his arms. Everything else was just stuff."
The TV part made me smile, lol, and I the part about the most important things being in his arms did too. I couldn't help thinking how true that was, given the rest of the story, and John didn't even know it.
Awesome work as always! :)
